Sarah remained busy with her night shifts for a couple of weeks. She would finish her night shift, go home and sleep. Work. Eat. Sleep. Repeat. That was how her days would pass. Neither weekdays nor weekends could she just relax. Not that she did not like doing her job, sometimes she just did not get the time to sit down and breathe. Shows would remain unfinished as she would take days to finish one episode. Vinnie would text her asking her about her day, sending her memes to make her laugh but only when going to work would she text him back, which was the next day. After a while, Vinnie also stopped texting and Sarah felt bad but she did not have a choice. Work became a way to forget about the outside world. But the outside world included Vinnie too.
After a few weeks of night shift, she finally got her schedule of morning shift and thus finally had the time to relax. After a good good night's sleep, she decided to text Vinnie and as expected he texted back almost immediately. She told him she was free and Vinnie took this opportunity to go and hang out with her.
Sarah paced her apartment as she waited for Vinnie to come. He deserved an apology but she had no choice. It was her career after all. Vinnie rang her doorbell and Sarah ran to the door, excited to see Vinnie. As she opened the door, the smiling, beautiful boy stood in front of her. Seeing Vinnie after a long time, she felt her heart flutter. She was happy to see him. It felt like an eternity since she had last seen him.
"Miss me?" Sarah teased as Vinnie suddenly crossed his arms and pretended to be upset. He rolled his eyes and looked away angrily.
"I thought you died. News flash: Doctor dies because she could not treat herself," Vinnie replied in a dramatic tone. Sarah punched his chest playfully as he flinched at the sudden contact.
"SHE'S ALIVE Y'ALL SHE'S ALIVE!!" Vinnie yelled. The old couple walking by Sarah's house looked at him in annoyance as he apologised for being too loud. Sarah laughed at this and Vinnie grinned at her back. He was pathetic but Sarah liked it. He was pathetic like that for her only.
"That's Mr and Mrs Monet, they are my neighbours," Sarah explained as the old couple kept eyeing Vinnie in annoyance. They were kind neighbours but did not tolerate any horseplay.
"I thought you'd have a hot neighbour and I would hit on her from your house every time I came over. Haizz tough luck," Vinnie sighed as Sarah rolled her eyes at him.
"Maybe you can hit on Mrs Monet if you want," Sarah challenged.
"RESPECTFULLY!" Vinnie turned to look at Sarah who was failing to stifle her laugh. He shook his head at her. "She's a fine woman though. "Oh Mrs Monet, this lad, Vincent Cole Hacker, has fallen hard for thou!'' Vinnie got down on his knees as he stretched his hands out to their house with no one standing there. Sarah laughed heartily seeing Vinnie trying to flirt with Mrs Monet although she was not there. He was practically talking to the air.
"She's French, she doesn't understand English. Only her husband does."
"Love has no language sweetheart," Vinnie winked as Sarah rolled her eyes again at Vinnie and laughed.
"You're pathetic."
"Mrs Monet would go "Draw me like one of your french girls" to me," Vinnie teased.
"And give you an F at your horrible drawing," Sarah sneered.
"You haven't even seen my drawings!" Vinnie argued.
"That's because you haven't drawn one, to begin with," Sarah rebutted as Vinnie could not think of a comeback this time. He had to say Sarah was hard to argue with. She always had a comeback. Answer to everything he asked and said. Sarah chortled at his loss for words as Vinnie gave her an annoyed look. She always found ways to win him over anything.
