jealousy, jealousy!
"i know who karissa is""𝓗ey, pretty lady," Lucas greeted Karissa as he walked into history class with a wide grin.
Karissa was in her seat, speaking with Jamie, who sat in front of her, and looked at Lucas with a smile that practically made him melt. "Ooo, pretty lady. I like that one, but I still want more of a Texan nickname."
Lucas pursed his lips with a hum as he thought, sitting on top of the desk next to the one Karissa was on.
"Darlin'?"
Karissa nodded at his idea. "Now we're getting somewhere." He chuckled before saying, "I could always just call you 'princess.'" She tilted her head, pondering the suggestion.
"We'll put a pin in it."
"Hi, Jamie," Lucas acknowledged happily, causing the edges of Jamie's lips to curl up. "Hey, Lucas."
She had just been watching the two's interaction, noticing how her best friend beamed as soon as Lucas walked in. Jamie loves Karissa with her whole heart and vice versa. So, seeing Karissa so joyful around him immediately made her want to get them together.
Karissa is the kind of person that would give her life to help out the people she loves and will do things to make those people happy. And while it's one of the traits Jamie loves about her, Karissa will sacrifice her own happiness.
That is something she finds extremely unfair. Karissa is the best person she's ever met before and Jamie believes she deserves the world.
Meanwhile, Riley and Maya were outside of the classroom, about to go in. That is until Maya poked her head in, finding Lucas and Karissa sitting next to one another, talking and laughing with Jamie.
She instantly covered Riley's eyes and pressed her against the wall.
"What are you doing? Oh, but this is too easy— it's Maya. I know because I saw you put your hand over my face. I'll do you now." Riley went to copy Maya's actions until she moved her head back, saying, "That's not the game."
Confused, Riley asked, "What's the game?"
"The game is, protect the plant from the bulldozer in the leather jacket."
"Oh, Maya. Bulldozers don't wear leather—" She stopped upon seeing Lucas interacting with Karissa and Jamie. "Huh." She bit here lip and walked back to the lockers, sliding down them.
"Oh, look what the bulldozer did to ya."
"There are other girls in this world."
Maya nodded. "There are."
"And other girls, like Karissa Hunter, are going to talk to Lucas."
Bobbing her head up and down again, Maya confirmed, "They are."
