"Sam, meet me in the library." Dean said after dinner. Sam nodded and bid himself farewell to his father and Jessica.
Sam had just barely entered be room when Dean spoke. "You are going to marry Jess, aren't you?"
Sam's hazel eyes widened, his face going red. "Wha-what? How'd you know?" His mouth was open slightly in astonishment.
"Sammy, I know you too well. It's in the way you look at her, you know? You love her, don't you?" Dean smiled at his little brother.
Sam breathed in and shrugged, "I think I do Dean." He leaned up against the wall, "I don't know ... She's so beautiful. And she's funny, and cunning, and oh! I don't know."
Dean nodded, "Well don't go marrying her if you're not sure."
Sam agreed, "Im mostly sure to say the least. Just give me some more time." Dean put a hand on Sam's shoulder in support and smiled. Just then, while they were having a brotherly love moment, Castiel knocked on the archway.
"My lords," Castiel nodded to the both of them.
Sam nodded in return, "Well, I best be off. It's getting late. Goodnight Dean, goodnight Castiel." Dean said goodnight and looked out the window at the dark indigo sky.
"My lord," Castiel repeated to Dean. Dean turned his head and wet his lips. "Your father has told me he wants me to be of your assistance tonight. He knows you've told me off this week, but he wants me to be a footman, I suppose."
Dean sighed, "No, no. I don't need a footman! I've done just fine without a footman this entire week, I understand it's your job and all, but I certainly don't need anyone to undress me!"
"Do you not want me to undress you?" Castiel spoke softly. Dean's face went hot and he swallowed. The footman's eyes widened after he had enough time to understand the connotation of his words. He swallowed and went on, "Um, well your father, he said you should learn to be used to a footman. He says he wants you to be gentlemen- but, but, but, if you don't feel comfortable-"
"No," Dean's father, John, limped into the room. "Dean, you will let this man do his job! No son of mine will pass the offer of a footman."
Dean took a step back when his father stepped into the room and Castiel jumped a little.
"He is here for you, so use him. Be a man Dean, let him undress you!" John said aggressively. All of them made awkward eye contact after he spoke and an uncomfortable silence filled the room. Nevertheless, John continued, "Dean, I don't understand why you won't let him be a footman. We live in a lord's house, so act like one."
Dean clenched his jaw and nodded. He didn't want to disappoint his father. But having Castiel undress him seemed so intimate. Having anyone undress him was a delicate matter. Dean didn't enjoy showing off his body often and having someone look at it made his skin crawl. And just the fact that another human being was going to take off his clothes, put them on, all for him made him uncomfortable. He could do it himself, he didn't need someone to do it for him.
"You hear me, Dean?" John growled.
"Yes father, I understand." Dean's eyes flicked over to Castiel's quickly and then back to his father. Castiel looked just as uncomfortable as he felt. "Well, goodnight father."
John bid him goodnight and crossed the room to get a drink. Dean made eye contact again with the brilliant blue eyes and left the room to the staircase. Was Castiel to follow him? Or meet him there?
Castiel stood behind Dean and shrugged as if he knew what Dean was thinking. "I don't have anything to do below, so I assume I should follow you?"
Dean nodded, "Yes I do suppose."
