Mermaid In A Jar

You ever feel like your drowning?
Reach out for help, and only grab air?
"We're here for you, just reach out"
But instead, they only stare.
Trapped behind the glass,
An aquarium with a view
You bang on the plexiglass,
But they just keep taking pictures of you.
You finally find the rock,
Floating in the middle of your habitat.
You climb aboard and look around,
And can only find that,
There is no other, in your enclosure,
So you sing your saddest melody.
And just as you'd hoped,
More people came along to hear you sing.
But none of them,
Were like you at all.
All happy and smiley,
Like they'd won a ticket to the Royal ball.
Like the way they tricked you,
Into the glass box where you now reside.
You're angry, ashamed, and feel stupid.
The only remedy is to hide.
No caves, no coral,
No shells, no gravel.
A single glass box,
With a single rock.
Nowhere left to run,
Your tears just continuously float up,
No one is coming to save you,
Whate'er is a princess to do?
