(A lot of physical pain written in this entire chapter, you're aching hurting)

You stood with the others as they waited for the dinner to begin. Apparently the doors were the cue and once they opened, we were all to congratulate the couple.

A simple plan, but you appeared as though you were nervous with your hand over your stomach, prepared for another hit of nausea.

You feel a tap on your shoukder and turn to face your concerned looking neighbor. "Ay, did the food not work, mijo?" He says as he looks at your hand.

You quickly use it to straighten your shirt instead, smiling dismissively. "Oh the food worked fine, I'm just, ah- nervous! Simple task to be here but an important one, no?" You say with as much pep as your body can muster.

He shrugs and agrees with you, before turning to chat with someone else. You're partially a part of their conversation, but slowly manage to slide out of the group, to stand on the side some.

You sigh quietly through thin lips, taking a deep breath to calm yourself. You'd really love to be home right now. You think before feeling a surge of nausea rise up your throat. You excuse yourself and go around the house in some bushes to try calm the urge to vomit.

You jolt as something moves in the plants at the side of the house. Some small animals? Your eyes follow them to meet a man in a hooded ruana. You furrow your brows and squint. He hasn't seemed to notice you yet.

With a squeak from the rat he now held, he glanced to you and nearly jumped out of his skin when he saw you staring at him. You recognized that face. You had seen him many years ago.

Bruno.

You don't get the chance to say anything, before he's in a full sprint around the house. You whisper shout for him to wait, but follow him as he runs.

What was he doing out here? Where has he been?

You remember meeting him when you were younger, your mother speaking ill of his gift and character. How she didn't trust him, that his prophecies were a bad omen. You weren't meant to peer into the future, for the gods would punish you for your curiosity and test of your faith in destiny.

However much truth was in that, you didn't know, but you never felt one way or another about any of the gifts.

Your mind was flooded with questions, from what you knew of Bruno and what you heard as of recently. Mirabel went looking for something of his, didn't she? She at least said his name under her breath, you knew that much.

Swiftly, Bruno leaps into the house through a hidden hole in the wall and you follow in his steps. You end up in the walls of casita, running on loose planks, dodging support beams as you follow him through the building.

He is nimble and knows the place well and so he loses you too quickly for you to say anything and leaves you inside casita, looking around for a way out.

Brows furrowed, you look around you, until you hear some commotion. Talking? The proposal!

You cringe and slowly head towards the noise to see if you will find you way out there. The dining room was beside the door and near where you entered, surely.

You reach what you assume is the wall beside the dining room and press your ear against the wall.

There's talking, muttering and mumbling muffled by the wall.

'Camilo, fix your face!'

'Mirabel, the cream, please?'

So the dinner is still going. You sigh through your nose and look both directions along the wall. Maybe a left from here?
