For your walk, you decide to actually wear shoes and socks to lessen any alarm people may feel from your situation. Lastly hiding your hand beneath a pair of gloves, you head outside for your walk and though it's a bit slower than normal with your janky steps, you manage and have a great time doing it.
The skies are warm and sunny, with small puffs of clouds stretching over the vast blue, tearing into various shapes and sizes.
You make your way down the hill to town and see many townspeople look over to you and begin to approach. Folks young and old gather around you, asking how you're feeling and what injuries caused the crutches.
You throw excuses like magical damage from casita crumbling on you and just having to recover naturally. Your gloves were an excuse along the lines of 'crutches irritate your skin from gripping them all day'.
Eventually people got their fill of reasons and wished you a speedy recovery. Some kids still followed you around, asking why you stayed with the Madrigals and why you were a statue. Many went and assumed it was a curse or a gift or something wilder than your ears cared to pick up.
You wanted fresh air, not interrogations.
Your face must have screamed this louder than you anticipated, because a voice rang from a distance in front of you.
"Alright you lot, go on, give him space!" A slim guy walked over, ushering the kids to begone and go play. They groan in protest but scatter soon enough.
You thanked him for the help and he shrugged it off, saying it was no big deal.
The guy's clothes consisted of overalls and a button up and a scarf around his neck, looking quite peppy and bright. His hair was golden and short, poking out from underneath a hat. He was carrying a big shoulder bag, filled with letters if you saw correctly.
You were pretty sure you had seen this guy before. Wasn't he the town delivery boy?
"Arlo, where'd you go?" A young woman popped out from behind a corner, calling out to someone.
The guy beside you perked up and waved her over. You guessed his name was Arlo. The woman had wild orange curls tied with a green bandana hanging from her head, reaching past her shoulders. Her hazel eyes dotting her round face. She had a simple green skirt on and a tan ruana over her shoulders.
"I was just helping this one out with a herd of kids following him around." Arlo smiled, adjusting his hat.
He looked over to you, offering a hand in greeting to introduce himself properly. Soon he noticed your crutches though and hesitated in case you needed your hands, but you reached over and shook his hand, keeping the crutch under your shoulder.
"Y/N, pleasure." You shake his hand and greet the girl as well.
She introduced herself has Elena, confident smile upon her face.
You engaged in some small talk with the two and they got a good laugh out of you, which honestly you needed. You feel bad thinking that way, but it was suffocating to be a stranger in a full house, as much as you had good laughs with the Madrigals.
You continued your way through town with Arlo and Elena, both catching up on what's been going on for the past few weeks as per your request.
The two admitted they had helped rebuild the Madrigal home, but never knew them personally or interacted much with the family prior. Arlo mentioned talking to Luisa ancouple times, but she had always been too busy to chat, despite him wanting to get to know her.
Once you three reached the market, Elena excused herself to go talk to an older guy at a market stand, conversing in a friendly manner. They must have known each other.
