Drums pounding, ominous rhythm filling your mind as you drift back and forth between the waking world and an inky darkness. Flashes of various scenes fill your mind, from Bruno's room; to the doors on the second floor balcony.
Many voices faded in and out, but you couldn't understand what they were saying. They all sounded familiar, yet you couldn't place a face on any of them.
Your last blackout was in your own bed inside casita. You were laying in your bed, unmoving beneath the covers. Your hearing begun to return and familiarity of your surroundings reached you.
You felt someone sit on the bed beside you, a cool wet cloth resting over your forehead temporarily. Were you ill?
Two voices conversed, muffled until your ears reopened.
"... don't know what happened! My gift suddenly activated and I saw my door flickering strangely and since I wasn't trying to use my powers I went to see what was going on."
That was Bruno's voice. He seemed anxious.
"And there he was, in the middle of my room on his knees before he just collapsed! I didn't see what he saw until I got into the room, but even then I... I don't really know what I was looking at..."
His voice drifted off nervously. Julieta sighed beside you.
"I don't know what's going on with him or why he was looking for you, but there must be something going on still..." she pondered while gently wiping your forehead.
You kept your eyes closed, but took a deep breath to speak. Your throat felt dry, but you cleared it off. "I don't know why..."
Both looked to you in surprise as you spoke.
"Why I needed to be there... But I know where I need to go next." Your words came out more ominous than you intended, but there really wasn't much else you could say, lest casita throw a tile at you, you figured.
Sitting up, you looked at the two of them, eyes adjusting to the light as light vertigo tried to tilt you sideways. Julieta tried to hush you back to laying down, but you insisted you had to go.
But Julieta didn't let you. You had never seen her too upset before- no, you had never seen her upset at all. But it was clear in her eyes she was frustrated with your condition seeming to only stay or get worse.
And now you had been caught using Bruno's gift somehow and they both wanted answers. Bruno didn't say much, but he stood there, twiddling his fingers.
Julieta held your face in her hands and looked at you in the eyes. "I don't know what's going on again and what it is that you're doing, but... But it worries me, Y/N." She whispered, expression one of pain.
"You worry me."
You couldn't help but gaze down. All of this was a lot on the family still, but you weren't sure if this was time sensitive.
"I... I know. I know you worry, Julieta. And I'm sorry I can't say more. I don't know what's going on and I don't know why I'm a part of it. I don't know why I used Bruno's gift. I don't know why I can't get rid of the stone, I...." you hang your head in defeat.
"I just know that whatever happened, whatever broke the miracle, the magic... it isn't over. And I'm sorry I don't know what else to say." Looking back into her eyes, you could tell she wanted more than that as an answer, she wanted you to be okay. But you weren't. And neither was this family.
"Can't you at least rest for a moment? Maybe we can help you? If you just told us what you had to do? Please?" She begged.
"Mirabel did everything alone before. As a family it would be easier, you know?" Bruno chimed in, trying to back up Julieta.
