(Slight tw for a disturbing nightmare, you can skip the italic text if you don't want to read it)

It took the entire night for you to shake off your nausea and finally when the sun was rising, you were able to get some sleep. It was a good enough reason for you to take the day off and rest till the next day.

Your second night didn't go that smoothly either, with a haunting dream plaguing you.

You stand on the road leading up to casita, watching a large crack split the cobblestones you stand on. The crack comes towards you like a charging bull, your eyes fixed on it, yet you cannot move away.

The thundering rumble of the ground tearing a your ears, you watch as the crack reaches you, earth splitting between your legs, spreading them apart some. Your knees wobble, but you remain standing.

A final crunch of the earth sends you to the ground in pain. Your mouth agape in a scream, but no sound leaves you, no sound surrounds your form, kneeling on the ground.

You look down to your legs and watch as they crack, like a stone statue under pressure, your limbs split under the branching cracks that climb your body. You cannot stop it, you cannot get away, you only sot at the end of the large crack on the ground, feeling it extend up your body instead of the ground.

You see casita, you see Mirabel before her home, as it falls apart. Her family stone like you behind her, before the cracks reach your head and it all fades to black.

Your bed head was incredible and clothes disheveled as you woke up the next day around noon. You hadn't jumped out of your nightmare, but instead fell into darkness, sleeping away the rest of the morning awfully peaceful. Another familiar feeling.

The dream struck a memory you had long buried in the depths of your mind, everything coming flooding back. You had similar dreams before. Cracks on you, on your own family. But now that you were living alone, you saw Mirabel and her family instead.

Scratching your head in thought, you look down to your body, seeing everything fine and normal. Your nausea was gone, aside from a twist of hunger in your gut from not eating well last night.

You haul yourself out of bed to shower and get ready to go get some fresh air for the day. Brushing your hair, you rub your tired face and lean on your bathroom counter for a minute.

What did you witness that night and why do you feel involved in it all of a sudden? You had only dreamed of those cracks before, but you were awake that night, you knew you were.

Sighing, you eventually get yourself some breakfast and pull your shoes on. Munching on your to-go meal, you head out into the sun. Things must be fine with the Madrigals now if the day was this clear.

Nothing seemed out of the ordinary with anyone else either, as they went about their day, with some of the Madrigals doing their daily errands.

Standing on the cobblestone road, your eyes follow the road uphill to the home of the Madrigals. Casita stood in one piece, not a cloud in the sky to throw askew the image of a perfect paradise.

Your dream came back into mind, remembering the cracks coming for you. You felt your ankle sting from the memory and almost like on instinct, you glanced down. No cracks, no injuries, just a ghost sting.

Two arms pull you out of your thoughts, along with your entire form off the street and into the shadows. You were lucky to keep your balance from the sudden yank and look to the culprit with wide eyes.

Mirabel.

She looked increasingly suspicious as she glanced around you both. Then almost in a surprise, she looked to you.
