I ate dinner with everyone in the tower. Wanda was very nice, and I met Natasha and Clint Barton. Mr. Stark was still in his lab, and Sam Wilson talked to me a lot about flight. He showed me his wings, which were just a backpack folding up. He told me about how he flew, mainly with the jetpack installed in the back, but also steering using his feet. It was an interesting topic.
I didn't see Peter that week at all until mid-Friday when he showed up in the commons room with a duffel bag and Harley right next to him. I had continued stretching my wings more, but I didn't do the running thing at all without Peter.
He and Harley helped me pack the few t-shirts I had, and the three pairs of pants. They had come in the mail, and Peter helped me destroy them so they actually fit over my wings.
We then went back to the commons room to grab their stuff and back in the elevator.
"This one goes all the way underground to the arc reactor and the garage," Harley explained.
Peter said we weren't taking a car.
"We need to take one to get to the airport," Peter explained. "Sorry. It's like ten minutes away."
I shrugged, picking up my backpack that held all my clothes, computer, and phone. The doors opened to a large car garage, that held just about every color car in existence. There was a large black van-like one pulled in front of the elevator, Happy in the front, driving.
"Hey, kids." Mr. Stark greeted.
"Hey, Tony." Harley threw open the doors and threw out bags in the back. "Hope you guys didn't have anything fragile in those."
"I did," Peter whispered.
I smiled.
"Whoops." Harley hopped in one row of seats in the back. Mr. Stark sat in the passenger seat.
In the back, two rows of seats sat facing each other. One wasn't facing forwards, which was where Peter and Harley were. I got the other side, and my wings crowded everyone.
I was trying to hold them out of the way, but it didn't really work. They were wrapped around me and taking up all the empty space in between the seats.
Harley grunted as he got slapped in the face with one. I widened my eyes.
"Everything all right back there?" Mr. Stark asked.
"Nope." Harley spit out a feather.
Sorry.
"'S Okay." He gently pushed my wing out of the way.
The ride was mostly silent until we got to the airport. There was a separate gate we entered, driving past the big tower and to a bright white jet in the middle of a very large concrete lot.
"All right, Max get out first." Mr. Stark said, opening the door on the side for me. I climbed out carefully, shaking out my wings afterward. Half my feathers were crumpled, and the rest were sitting on the floor and seats of the car.
"Jesus." Harley brushed off the seats and hopped out after Peter.
"Everyone, get your stuff and get up in the jet." Mr. Stark said. He opened the back of the car, dropping our bags on the ground and picking up his own. "Thank's Happy!" Moments later the car drove off.
"Here." Peter took my bag and his, and Harleys.
"That's a lot kid-" Mr. Stark protested as Peter picked up his bag.
"Super strength, remember?" He grinned behind the pile of bags. "Feels like nothing."
"All right then."
