"So... Soulmates, huh?"
"Heh... yeah, I know how that sounds."
"But you really believe that I could be your soulmate?"
Minhyung's cheeks turned slightly red from the blush that appeared across his face.
I smiled at him, a little amused.
More than two weeks had passed since I met Lee Minhyung, Haechan's roommate in the dorms.
He was the guy that was looking for me last semester, so my friends told me.
Haechan had mentioned that he's the guy who fell in love with my voice, apparently.
As much as I didn't want to remember that, it was probably from that talent show that Seohyun and Tabbi secretly signed me up to at school—to which I had no choice but to join.
Well, I did win first place, so I guess it wasn't that bad.
But moreover, Minhyung was also the guy appearing in my dreams, despite not ever seeing him before.
The dreams started in December last year, and they continued up until the beginning of August. But they eventually stopped, right when I finally saw Minhyung in person.
And I knew, the first time we met—right then and there—that we had some kind of connection with each other.
I felt it.
It was as if those dreams were my very own memories from a past life or something, and every little detail about them pointed right to him.
Minhyung knew it too. He had the dreams as well.
It was the reason he was looking for me, he'd told me.
But it wasn't until we've finally met each other that we've extensively learned about our rather interlinked history.
You see, approximately one hundred years ago, a guy named Mark Lee had fallen in love with a girl named Elizabeth Moon.
I know, it sounds pretty cliché—boring even—but there's more to it than that.
Minhyung said that he strongly believes in soulmates.
He claims that his parents and his grandparents were meant for each other, because they were "soulmates."
Meanwhile I, to some extent, believe in being reborn again.
My family had always told me that I look so much like my great-great grandfather's cousin from a hundred years ago. They told me that I was her reincarnation.
It was hard to believe at first, but I've seen her pictures. The resemblance was uncanny.
The only difference we had was the hair. She had dark waves while mine was straight.
And I look exactly like her before she died from an illness.
But even when she died so young, only sixteen or seventeen that time, Elizabeth had lived a full life.
Because her first and only love, Mark, made sure she would complete her famous bucket list just before she passed away.
And thus, their story ended.
Mark Lee was Minhyung's great grandfather.
Now, a century later, here we are.
I don't think it would be too bold to assume that Minhyung could be his great grandfather's reincarnation. After all, he is Mark's descendant.
