We duck and the bullet zooms by, hitting a tree. Kowa looks behind me and widens her eyes. "Darren a twig is stuck to your shirt."

She grabs for the twig but I get up quickly and start to pull. Another bullet zooms by. I start to pull harder. The shirt doesn't budge. Kowa lifts up my shirt from the hem and her fingers tickle my skin. I lift my arms and she takes off the white shirt quickly. This is the first time a girl saw me shirtless.

She holds my hand and we continue to run. I see something glint in the sunlight. I slow down and notice another cave. "Kowa." I point to it. She runs a few more steps and imprints her shoes. She comes back backward making sure her footsteps are in tact. "Darren run over their a little." She points to the right. Away from her footsteps completely.

I run to the right and do the same thing Kowa did when coming back. She looks at me and runs inside the cave quickly, avoiding any footprints and looks around. I follow her and avoid footsteps. On the left of the cave entrance their is a large piece of wood that could approximately cover the entryway. Kowa uses it and their are little holes for the sunshine to pour into. It looks natural.

She looks at me and notices my chest. Kowa looks away and stares at the entryway. She lays down on her side and faces away from me. I lay down as well but look at the top of the cave. The sunshine causes a little ray to form on the ceiling.

I look at Kowa. Her dark brown hair is laid behind her. I sigh heavily and look up. The wind hits me and turns me out cold.

When I wake up, something light is laid on top of me. I grab it quickly. My shirt. I sit up and notice Kowa sitting in front of me, looking down. I place the shirt on quickly. "Kowa. Did you get my shirt? Why? You could have gotten killed?"

She looks up at me and the wind moves her hair which covers half of her face. She looks phenomenal like that.

I look at her in the eyes and she looks away. I look at the ceiling and run a hand through my hair.

She coughs lowly. I stare back at her. She looks up at me. Her eyes are beautiful and so deep. They mean something much more than emotion. I wonder if my eyes are like that.

The wind blows Kowa's hair and her body is fragile. She looks sad and devastated. I move closer to her.

"Kowa?" Kowa's eyes pierce through my skin and I feel, well, I don't know how to feel.

I move closer but she moves back. Kowa's back hits the wall and air sources out of her mouth. Kowa's face immediately hits pain. "Kowa? What's wrong?" Kowa just stares at me with these deep and sad eyes that I can't seem to look away from.

Kowa breaths in and fiddles with her hands. "They." Kowa is breathing hard and fast. "They sh-" But she falls down to the ground in a large heap. I run to her and turn her around. On her back is a large dark spot spreading out quickly. She's losing blood. Fast.

I think of something and remember of some medical book I read when I was locked in my room. I take my shirt off and place mine on top of her wound and try my best to soak up the blood. My mind is fuzzy on what to do.

"Kowa?" My body starts to weaken and I hear my voice cracking. "Kowa." I start to feel tears forming and a huge lump forms in my throat. No. This can't be it for her.

She's too young to die. I lift Kowa up and leave my shirt on their. I kick the wood piece by the entryway. Four to six men are waiting outside. Guns pointing at us. I drop her down slowly on the ground and lift my hands up. I neal down so they don't hurt Kowa anymore.

They look at me and one's eyes soften. "Can you just make sure Kowa is healed. Please. Just make sure she's healed and healthy." There is tons of desperation in my voice. "If you heal her you can do whatever you want with me." A few men grab me harshly and the one with the kind eyes lifts Kowa.

Kowa and the man walk in her footsteps and the men and I walk to my footsteps. Mine are away from hers completely.
