The cold, wind tingles my skin. My eyes flutter and the entryway is wide open. It's dark outside and the stars are visible. Two seem to shine the brightest.
I reach out a hand for them. I smile and I sit up slowly. My leg is filled with pain and is stiff. A thick, dark bandage is wrapped around my wound. I lean against the wall and look around. The hut seems rather empty.
I move my hands around for my gun. The stars and the moon is the only light, and it's not the brightest down here. I move my hands around more and notice grooves beneath my fingertips.
I move my hands back and notice tons and tons of grooves on the ground. Kowa. I can't see what they are since it's way too dark. I sit and stare at the roof, waiting to fall asleep but I can't. I to fall asleep again but the grooves are smooth and deep beneath my fingertips.
I look at the grooves and notice many letters. I feel around and the grooves lead my fingers. I feel an "I" and "M". I stare at the grooves longingly and the dim light seems to help in a way. I feel around using my fingers and light. It seems to spell out:
"I NOT GOTNG MEMTAL. I MOST GLVE MYSFLE IN."
That's what I decipher. But it doesn't make sense at all. I stare at it again deep and hard. The first sentence was pretty easy "I NOT GOING MENTAL." But next it seems to be "I MUST GIVE MYSELF IN." It's makes no sense.
No. I was all wrong. It's "I am" not "I not". A sudden chill flies on my back. I shiver. Kowa gave herself in. She believes she's going mental. Her nightmare. I runs hand through my hair angrily and I punch the wooden wall. A shock of pain shoots through my hands and a few splitters stabs my fingers. I scream and groan a little.
I stand up, ignoring my hand and leg. I limp towards the entrance and see a few footsteps. Then they stop. It was like some plane captured Kowa and carried her the rest of the way.
I stare at the sky and it's completely marvelous. The sky is absolutely beautiful. It's black, blue, and purple. A beautiful mix with bright white stars.
There are still the two bright stars shining. I smile to myself and walk into the woods slowly. I walk past trees from yesterday and I stare at their endless branches. I continue to walk and let the wind rustle my hair.
I close my eyes and continue to walk. The sound of waves crashing calms my body down. The wind moves through my fingers and I slowly start to spin around with my hands splayed out. The wind flows through my hair and the vivid sky reminds me of Kowa. Of beautiful, shining Kowa. I smile wider and let the wind flow through my open fingers.
The sky is turning lighter. I move back into the woods and hear the waves for the last time. I smile and feel the cool wind against my skin. I walk back to the hut and notice a back pack placed near the entrance. I stare at the black bag and slowly approach it. I grab the bag and check the contents. Food, supplies, equipment, and more food. I smile to myself and place it on. It's light and comfortable but something scratches at my back.
I take the back pack off, waiting for a bomb to appear but it just a piece of scratchy rough paper. I look at it and turn it around. I gasp. The back pack is from Kowa. I slowly place it back down and twist it around.
I quickly put it back on and I hold the straps in my hands. The sky is starting to lighten up. It's turning to orange and red. I smile at myself and remember the first time I talked to Kowa. She was smiling and Kowa was absolutely beautiful. The most wonderful girl I have ever met.
I walk back into the woods, opposite of the hut. I feel this is the correct way. I feel my heart is leading me to Kowa.
