Snezhnaya

The sound of metal against metal filled my ears. Heavy breathing and pants flew through the air of my Serenitea Pot. My skin was warm and sweaty from moving so much.

Kunikuzushi stood in front of me, our swords crossed. I saw a strike of purple light before I felt his body pressed behind mine and his weapon against my neck. The coldness of the metal sent chills down my spine.

"You won't get anywhere with the Fatui if you just stand there." He whispered in my ear. His sword had pushed mine close to my chest.

"Is that to say that everyone else in the Fatui can teleport like you can?" I asked, pushing his sword away. I tried to put some space between our bodies, but his arm wrapped itself around my waist, pulling me close to him.

He hummed, "No. I believe I'm the only Fatui member who can teleport. You can never be too sure, though. I think the Tsaritsa may be able to."

We were silent for a moment, just enjoying the moment. The fronts of our bodies pushed against each other.

Kuni looked into my eyes with a soft gaze, then glanced down towards the bottom half of my face. He bit his lip slightly, and his grip on my waist got tighter.

I could feel my face heating up. I reached up to the brim of his hat and pulled it down to cover his face.

"Wha- hey!" He pulled his arm away from my waist to lift his hat back up. I covered my own with my hands out of embarrassment.

"Sorry. I got nervous." I mumbled.

He looked surprised. Then he laughed softly. "No worries, darling."

"Stooooooop." I whined, crouching down to the ground.

He walked in front of me, crouching down to my level. He held onto the edge of his hat as he moved. "Look here." He said, lifting my chin with his hand.

"What-?" My words were cut off by his lips against mine. He kissed me slowly, and I kissed him back with the same passion.

His hands drifted from my chin down to my chest, and my own landed in his hair.

"Ew!" A high-pitched voice exclaimed. We quickly parted to see Paimon standing outside the house. "Gross! Paimon came out here to tell you guys to get ready to leave, and you're making out?! Ahhh! Paimon needs to bleach her eyes!" She quickly flew back inside, loudly slamming the door shut.

Kuni and I sat on the ground for a moment, processing what had just happened. I laughed awkwardly, "Uh. Maybe we should, uhm, get ready to head out, then." I suggested.

"Yeah... sounds good."

Days of traveling went by. We spent nights in the Serenitea Pot and days traversing through the nations on our way to Snezhnaya.

I could tell when we had almost arrived by the sudden drop in temperature. It was freezing.

I'd spent days straight in Dragonspine before. Albedo needed help with things, so I'd gotten used to the sheer cold of the snowy mountains. However, the chill of Snezhnaya was much harsher.

And Kunikuzushi seemed just fine with the small amount of clothing he was wearing. Meanwhile, I was freezing my ass off.

"What, are you cold?" Kuni asked. He seemed to notice the way I was VIOLENTLY SHIVERING.

I nodded my head. "Are you not?"

He shook his head. "I've spent a good portion of my life in Snezhnaya. I'm used to the cold. We're not even in snow yet. However..." He opened a small portal, moving his hands around inside. He pulled out a jacket and placed it on my shoulders. "There you go."

Despite the cold air, I felt my face get warm. "Thanks..." I mumbled.

As soon as my feet hit the snow, I felt an even stronger gust of cold wind blow in my face. Kuni still looked unphased. Paimon had blipped into thin air idk where the fuck she is.

"Paimon needs to use the bathroom!" She suddenly appeared.

"There aren't any bathrooms here except for in people's houses. You can go in the forest over there." Kunikuzushi said, raising his hand to point.

She grumbled but quickly flew away to the previously mentioned area.

I turned away from the forest to give her privacy and so did Kuni. We stood silently for a moment.

Snow had started to fall upon entering Snezhnaya. "You know how I said I refused to be a vessel for Raiden Ei's gnosis?" Kuni said.

I turned to look at him and noticed a small layer of snow forming on the top of his hat. He continued to look out at the vastness of the Snezhnayan winter. His indigo hair and dark, alluring eyes stood out clearly against the white snow backdrop.

"Yes... what about it?"

I could see him inhale and exhale slowly. "I lied."

?

"What do you mean?"

"I didn't refuse. I had no right to refuse. She had deemed me unworthy after seeing me sob on her Shogun puppet. She decided it would be best to let me live my own life."

"...Why are you telling me this?" I continued to look at him.

He turned to face me. He had a soft look on his face. "I feel I can be more vulnerable around you, now."

"Even though you told me you didn't want to be vulnerable around anyone, and especially me?"

He rolled his eyes. "Whatever. I said that before I got the chance to f..."

"Chance to what? Fall in love with me?" I teased.

He looked back towards the snow. "I suppose so."

I stared at him with my mouth partly agape. I wasn't expecting him to admit it outright.

"Paimon's back~!" I turned to see Paimon flying towards us.

"Let's get going, then." Kuni said, beginning our trek once again.

A/N: *lip bites so hard* hey yeah yeah mmmmmhmmmm. I've decided that the next chapter will be a big(ish) time skip. It's gonna start GREAT BECAUSE I'M getting impatient, and I'm ready to hurt you all.

That's why this chapter was short. I wanted to skip right to the next scene but I felt like it wouldn't blend well. yup yup yup, bye.
