it was tuesday.
somehow, awsten was more excited to go through the day than ever.
"otto, can we talk?"
otto looked up from his phone and nodded.
"yeah, sure. it's not like we've been best friends our whole life or anything," otto replied sarcastically with a smile.
"shut up, dumbass. come on." awsten lead otto to a more empty location of the school.
"did you talk to geoff yesterday?" otto asked as soon as they were in a place with no one around. awsten nodded with a big grin on his face. "what did he say?"
awsten began to explain everything that happened at jack's party, leaving otto surprised.
"what the hell?" were the only words otto managed to get out.
"yeah, and i had to explain what happened yesterday because i accidentally implied something happened at the party on friday. a bunch of shit happened and it turns out he likes me. like, actually likes me," awsten told otto.
"you're joking," otto stated in disbelief. awsten excitedly shook his head. "there's no way. are you sure he's not just trying to play some shit on you or something?"
"i'm sure. believe me, if you were there, you would know," awsten answered.
"damn, okay."
the bell rang.
"well, alright. i gotta go. my class is on the other side of the building. i'll catch you later though, don't make out in the hallways," otto grinned before walking away.
"gross, i won't," awsten replied cheerfully before making his way to his first class.
on the way to class, a face that once would ruin awsten's day, now made his day feel a lot better at first glance.
"hey awsten," geoff greeted the blue-haired boy.
"hi! um, how was your night?" awsten asked.
"it was alright," geoff responded in monotone voice while trying everything he could to prevent a smile from appearing.
"i see the corners of your mouth, geoff. don't try and act cold right now," awsten teased. geoff's face broke into a smile and he let out a soft laugh.
"yeah, i can't help it. anyways, i realized i didn't have your number and you don't have mine, so here," geoff discreetly slid a piece of paper into awsten's jacket pocket, making sure awsten was the only one to notice it. it was easy, really, since the hallways were empty due to class almost beginning.
"oh, thanks," awsten grinned.
"yeah, of course. i'll probably text you in class, maybe. i don't know, but i was thinking-"
the second bell rang.
"shit, i'm late. sorry geoff, but i really gotta go. if i'm more than five minutes late then i'll get saturday detention and i really dont want that shit," awsten rushed through his words.
"oh, alright. uh, i guess i'll let you know later?" the smile on geoff's face grew slightly smaller.
"yeah, that sounds great. bye geoff, see you in a bit!" awsten began to run through the halls.
"yeah, bye awsten."
***
awsten walked into the classroom he once dreaded. having to sit next to geoff used to make him want to throw up, but now he didn't mind it at all.
"geoff, you know you didn't have to spam my phone in history. i sit right in front of you, y'know," awsten told geoff as he sat down.
"i know, but it's fun," geoff answered with a shrug.
"yeah, whatever. anyways, what was that thing you wanted to talk about earlier?" awsten asked.
"oh, shit, right. i almost forgot," geoff said before lowering his voice to where only awsten could hear. "i was thinking this weekend we should go out, see a movie or something. after, we can head to my place and hang out there," geoff whispered. awsten's heart jumped.
"oh, alright! that sounds good," awsten responded. geoff smiled.
"also, for right now at least, i don't want things to be obvious. do you mind if i'm still an asshole to you in school for the time being?" geoff whispered.
awsten thought for a moment. geoff was always a dick to awsten, it would be strange to suddenly see a change between the two. awsten also figured that geoff would do anything to make sure no one could see him be any form of vulnerable, judging on all three of the bathroom interactions.
"yeah, sure. i don't mind." awsten nodded his head.
"alright," geoff began to raise his voice to it's normal level, "now shut up, asshole."
"geoff, language," the teacher spoke from across the room.
"my bad," geoff responded before glancing at geoff with a small grin. awsten's heart fluttered as he smiled back.
"whatever, i never even wanted to answer your shit talking anyway," awsten said with his smile not fading.
***
awsten and geoff were walking through the hallway side by side, exchanging small laughs and trying to seem as though they hated each other whenever someone were to look at the two.
"hey awsten?"
"yeah?"
"i thought about it a little more, why don't we just go ahead and see the movie as soon as school gets out?" geoff suggested. awsten immediately smiled.
"yeah, sure! i don't see why not," he responded trying not to show how excited he really was. geoff smiled softly.
"you know, you're really bad at hiding your emotions," geoff told him as he stuffed his hands into the pockets of his jacket. awsten rolled his eyes.
"whatever. neither are you," awsten playfully fought back.
"what do you mean by that? the only thing that broke me was apparently me being drunk as hell," geoff stated. awsten laughed.
"yeah, whatever. i'll just see you after school before people get too suspicious, alright?" awsten whispered. geoff smiled.
"alright, then. see you, blueberry." geoff pushed awsten away from him. awsten held back a laugh as heat rushed to his face.
blueberry.
"bye, asshole."
