awsten walked into his school building with his gaze set at his shoes. everything still felt surreal.
he doubted he'd see geoff today whether the brunet remembered the night or not.
"awsten, hey," otto greeted awsten as the blue-haired boy walked up to him.
"hi," awsten responded bluntly. otto tilted his head.
"you okay?" he asked. awsten hummed in response.
"i'm just tired," awsten told him.
while that wasn't a lie, there was much more going on in awsten's mind than just exhaustion. moments from the night before would replay in the boy's head. how close he and geoff got, the words that fell from geoff's lips. none of it was serious though, at least that's what awsten thought. he just hoped that geoff didn't remember a thing.
suddenly, a hand bumps into awsten, causing him to collide with otto.
"my bad, blueberry. maybe don't look like a trash can next time."
geoff definitely did not remember.
"way to go with the middle school insults, asshat," awsten called out as geoff walked away, holding up a singular finger.
two emotions were fighting in awsten's mind. one was relief, thankful that geoff didn't remember. the other being disappointment, sort of wishing that the moment had really meant something, but geoff was just drunk, right?
"awsten, are you alright?" otto asked. awsten hadn't seemed to notice, but his expression faltered and he looked rather upset.
"yeah, i'm good," awsten nodded, "i'm just gonna go to the bathroom. i'll be back."
"oh, alright."
awsten speed-walked his way to the nearest restroom and locked himself in a stall. had he imagined what happened that night? geoff appeared completely fine, almost no hangover whatsoever. his thoughts roared with questions and 'what-if's to the point where he decided to just leave the stall and find another distraction.
the blue-haired boy walked out and headed over to the sink to wash his hands in case anyone were to see and judge him, not knowing that he wasn't actually using the bathroom.
the door to the bathroom swung open and a familiar figure ran in, going straight to the stall and kneeling over it.
awsten turned around and saw geoff. he was puking like he had some sort of stomach flu.
"you alright in there?" awsten asked. geoff was barely able to respond, vomit lacing his throat and coming out as if it would never stop.
finally, geoff let out a couple of deep breaths before turning to face awsten. his expression stiffened once he saw him, seeming as though he didn't want to show any form of vulnerability.
"you're late for class," geoff stated bluntly.
"yeah, and you're vomiting everywhere," awsten replied almost instantly. geoff stood up and flushed the toilet before heading over to wash his hands.
"whatever. do you have any gum?" geoff asked.
awsten almost replied with a snarky insult, but he stopped once he remembered how badly wasted geoff was the night prior. he pulled a pack of spearmint gum out of his pocket and handed geoff a stick.
geoff looked almost surprised for a moment, but that expression washed away as he took the stick of gum and unwrapped it, placing it in his mouth.
there was a moment of silence between the two.
