Kelly and Stella pulled up outside of the cabin, the sun still blazing, boats out on the lake as people laughed and cheered in the water.
"Wow, this is perfect" Stella smiled, taking a breath of fresh air as she stepped out of the car.
"It's nice huh, we can take the boat out tomorrow if you like?" Kelly said as he met her at the passenger side of his car, both making their way to the cabin.
As they entered, Kelly dropped their bags and dusted things off a little as Stella had a quick look around, noticing the framed photos of Kelly through the years.
"Oh boy" she chuckled "look at this handsome chap" as she picked up a photo frame of Kelly as a teen.
Kelly came up behind her, looking over her shoulder "oh him?" he asked with a slight laugh "the week before my prom night" he shifted slightly as he got a little nervous.
"Prom king I take it?" She asked, an eyebrow raised as she saw him shrug a little. "Oh come on, someone as handsome as you definitely made prom king. I bet you had all the girls chasing you around that dance floor" she chuckled as she nudged him.
Kelly stood, a blank expression to his face as he briefly remembered the evening of what was supposed to be the highlight of his teens. Stella read him, his mood switching as he spaced out a little.
"What's wrong? Did I say something I shouldn't have?" Stella asked a little on edge, noticing him zoned out a little as he stared blankly at the photo she held.
"Uh" he shook his head, "nope, I just caught a flashback of that night, not that I'd like to remember" he shrugged his shoulders, Stella knowing to drop the subject as she saw his behaviour change.
They got in an unpacked, Kelly goofing off as they hung their clothes in the closet. The bedroom filled with Stella's infectious laugh, it was bliss. Kelly took a moment to take her in, just to look how far she had come was a big thing for him, he was so proud of her. He was sure to make sure she knew that too.
"What do you want for dinner babe?" He asked, bringing himself out of his little thought bubble.
"I'm okay with anything" Stella smiled at him as she walked over to meet him in the lounge.
"Steak? I can get the grill set up" his eyes lit up, the excitement of the grill clearly taking over him.
"Ouh, steak and a huge glass of wine sounds amazing" she smirked, snaking her arms around his waist.
"You are amazing" he kissed the top of her head softly as he brought her into a hug.
Stella sighed happily, taking him in as she whispered softly to him. "I love you so much".
"I know you do, I love you" he smiled before kissing her once more.
Once Kelly finally managed to pull himself away from her, he started setting up the grill, giving it a quick clean over as Stella prepared the food for him to cook.
Cutting the vegetables, she'd often take a glance at him, taking a moment to appreciate him, how far she had come. She knew she wanted to have the conversation with him eventually but just being in his presence kept her content.
"Meats nearly ready babe" he shouted in from the back of the cabin, pulling her from her thoughts.
"Ouh good, it smells amazing" she smiled as she saw the smirk on his face, figuring all the little things that made him happy.
Once they ate they sat chatting casually, Kelly brought up her appointment with Doctor Charles. Curious to know how she was doing and how she felt afterwards.
