"Wake up Mikey~" I heard someone say in a soothing tone as they turned on the lights. I opened and closed my eyes slowly, adjusting to the lights in the room. "What the hell...?" I asked, extremely tired. My vision was blurry, but I could make out a male that was knelt on the floor beside the bed in front of me.
"H- Hello?" I said, dazed. They let out a low chuckle. "Ugh, what time is it?" I said as I rubbed my eyes. "It's 1 am." They responded. "What!? Why did you wake me up this early then!?" I whisper-yelled, being cautious not to wake Henry up. "I was bored." They replied almost immediately in a blank tone.
"And what am I supposed to do about it?" I asked, annoyed. "Entertain me." They said in a demanding voice. "And why would I do that?" I asked in a brusque tone as I sat up. They stood up, towering over me as they put a hand on my shoulder and tightened their grip. This little gesture was enough for me to determine who it was...
"You've got a lot of nerve being here." I said in a belligerent tone as I looked in front of me, avoiding eye contact. "Don't be like that." They stated in a soft tone. "You should be happy to see me." They continued, as they tightened their grip on my shoulder further. "Father, what in the world made you think that I would be happy to see you?" I asked in a blank tone.
Honestly, what goes through that old man's head? He fell silent. He let go of my shoulder and brought his hands down to his side. I turned my head to look at him to see that he had this huge grin plastered on his face. "What bright idea do you have now?" I asked sarcastically. "Mikey~" He cooed my name.
"I know deep down that you missed me." He said in an almost bragging voice. My eyes widened immediately. "Tsk." I looked away from him, frustrated. "Why would I miss you?" I asked in a defensive tone, trying to hide my true feelings. "I'm your father. Why wouldn't you miss me?" He spoke in a soft tone as he gently ruffled my hair.
"A lot of reasons actually." I replied candidly. "Like what?" He asked blankly. I sighed as I folded my legs and hugged them tight to my body. "You wouldn't understand even if I told you." I said in an apprehensive tone. "And why not?" He asked genuinely. I stayed silent. I fear what his reaction would be if I told him.
"Michael." He said in a now serious voice. "Look, I don't want you to get upset if I actually told you, okay?" I said harshly, trying to skip past the subject. "I won't get upset. I promise." He said soft tone. "I don't think I want to make a promise with you." I stated, sounding petulant without meaning to. He grabbed my face and made me face him.
"Don't use that tone with me." He said in a cold, deep voice. "Being forceful and demanding isn't going to help change my mind." I said in a critical tone while maintaining eye contact with him. He furrowed his eyebrows in response. "If you think for a second that I can't discipline you because you're an adult now, then you are fairly mistaken." He said in an allusive tone.
"I never said that." I bit back immediately. "You just won't get the answers you want out of me throughout violence." I said in a now neutral tone. He scoffed at this. He then let go of my face and crossed his arms while still looking at me. He's analyzing the situation and thinking what to do. He's scheming something... I'm tired of this.
"Ugh, look can we argue in the morning or something? I'm getting tired of this after you woke me up from a long needed nap." I said in an apathetic tone as I rubbed my temples. He scoffed again. He then sat down with his back on one of the dressers by the sides of the bed. I guess he'll just stay here then... I then laid down to try to get some sleep again.
-Time Skip-
I woke up to my electrical alarm clock blaring in my ears. I groaned as I realized what time it was. I heard the sound of someone getting up. I shut my eyes tightly as I covered them with my hands. I'm actually surprised I fell asleep after what happened. Usually, I wouldn't have been able to catch a wink of sleep knowing that he was here.
But I was too exhausted to care about anything. I removed my hands from my face and opened my eyes. "Oh my God!-" I silently yelled. "Don't do that!" I continued. "Don't do what?" The figure asked. "Don't sneak up on people like that and just stare at them." I lectured, as I furrowed my eyebrows. He had a big smile on his face as I said that.
"I just wanted to wake my son up." He said in a happy tone. "Knowing you, it's a lot more than just that." I said in a blank tone as I sighed. "Oh c'mon, you don't believe your old man?" He questioned. "Quite frankly, no I do not." I said, apathetically. "Anyway, why are you still here?" I questioned. "What do you mean 'why am I still here'?" He said in the same tone.
"You know what I mean." I said, now serious. "I just wanted to hangout with my son!" He said excitedly. Geez, I've never seen him smile so much even in the past... It hurts to look at him while he's smiling like that. Such a huge fake smile... It makes me wince just looking at it.
God I want to punch him right now. He's really getting on my nerves. First, he scared me as soon as I woke up. Second, he's talking in riddles and doesn't answer my questions. Then, he has this huge smile and happy attitude that he never showed before. What next; he's gonna want me to go walk around town with him in public?
I scoffed at the thought of this. "How about we hangout in town today?" He asked in a soft tone. "..." I remained silent. You've gotta be joking... He wants me to hangout with him in town in public!? Is he out of his mind!? How will my reputation be affected!? Does anyone even know who he actually is?
I can't go out with him in public... I'll be ruined. Forever. I can't be seen with him. But he won't take no for an answer. Damn it... What do I do now? I'm so done for. My image, my reputation, my livelihood... "Time's ticking..." He said in a sing-songy tone. I sighed. "You know what, fine." I said, frustrated.
"Yay! I'm so happy!" He said in a kind of high pitched tone; imitating a child's voice. I stared at him. "Never do that again." I said as I death stared him. "Fine, fine. I can't have any fun with you." He said in a blank tone as he crossed his arms. I groaned as I closed my eyes and rubbed my temples. This is going to be a long day...
