eris couldn't see it but she heard the commotion. she shot up ready to go help but druig grabbed her wrist.

"stay." he demanded making eris snatch her hand away.

"i'm helping druig." she exclaimed as she felt her heart rate picking up. she hadn't fought since thanos. that day she physically exhausted herself as she fought him with wanda, there powers combined nearly tore him to pieces.

"please eris." he begged and the look on his face told her how serious he was. eris assumed they were deviants and she didn't know how the hell to fight them. with a slight groan she sat back down and watched as he ran off. out of the corner of her eye she saw a few villagers running in fear.

"hey get to the river! go! run!" she said as they ran off. a few minutes went by of her guiding people to the path to the river when she decided to go check on the rest of the eternals. she came up on sersi laying on the ground.

"sersi! are you ok?" eris exclaimed kneeling down to help her up.

"yes thank you."sersi said and looked around panicked and then yelled. "druig! watch out!"

eris watched as a deviant came from the sky and without thinking she sprinted towards druig. seconds before the deviant could get to him she slid across the ground only inches away from him. she threw her hand up into an 'x' creating a gold shield in front of them. she stood up pushing the monster back with her shield and threw her arms down to her side. the deviant was glowing and a few feet off the ground causing the remaining eternals to stare with wide eyes. with just a squeeze of her hands the deviant exploded into a bunch of pieces.

"ewwww." eris groaned looking around at the green blood surrounding her. her attention was caught again by another deviant running towards her. out of the corner of her eye she saw ikaris in the sky and with a flick of her wrist threw it up in the air. ikaris beams shot down at it causing it to land on the ground with a loud thud. once she knew ikaris was dealing with it she ran back to druig.

"are you ok?" he asked as he ran up to her and grabbed her face. she chuckled wiping some dirt off of his forehead. she scolded herself when bucky came back into her mind. he never asked if she was ok but she always made sure to ask him.

"i'm fine." she assured him rubbing the hand he had placed on her cheek. he pulled her into his chest and he let out a deep sigh.

"i just got you. i can't lose you yet." he mumbled into her neck making eris squeeze him tighter. eris's eyes widened over druigs shoulder as she saw sersi be thrown by the last deviant.

"sersi." she mumbled causing druig to look back. they watched in amazement as the deviant sprouted from the water as a tree.

"does she normally do that?" she asked leaning into druigs side. they both glanced over at kingo walking up with wide eyes.

"no, that's new." kingo muttered looking just as confused as everyone else. they watched as ikaris ran up to sersi and hugged her.

"where's thena and gilgamesh?" kingo asked catching ikaris's attention. ikaris's face dropped in what eris assumed was fear and he flew off through the forest. they all ran in the direction he flew but slowed down once they saw what had happened. eris felt her heart drop as she heard thenas cries. she laid over his body reminding her of the day she watched wanda do the same.

"where did he go? thor?" steve called out. bucky grabbed eris's forearm hoisting her up.

"where did he go?"

bucky grabbed her hand and gave eris a weird look. eris squeezed his hand confused if he was worried or maybe having a panic attack.

"steve." he said causing steve to glance their way. bucky looked back to eris and within a blink of an eye he disintegrated. her hand was now empty and she looked down at the dust that littered the ground.

"steve." she cried out dropping to her knees. she stared in disbelief as steve joined her by her side. they stayed there for a couple seconds listening to the silence of everyone surrounding them and the soft rustle of the trees.

"where's wanda and vision?" eris mumbled wiping a stray tear from her cheek. they got up and rounded a tree to see visions grey lifeless body. eris sobbed realizing that the dust next to him was wanda.

natasha ran up to them but grabbed her stomach at the sight and let out a soft sob. eris dropped to her knees next to steve and placed her hands on visions chest. in that moment she realized that it wasn't just them losing loved ones but everyone in the universe. with wide eyes she glanced up to steve and as if he could read her mind only a few words slipped out of his mouth.

"oh god."

unlike vision, they gave gilgamesh a ceremony. eris felt odd being there, only meeting him a few hours before. but druig insisted he stayed by his side as they burned him to collect his ashes. karun said a scripture for him that eris couldn't understand but stood silent out of respect. she couldn't help but stare at thena as druig rubbed his thumb across her hand.

she could feel thenas emotions and she wondered if druig could feel it too. he had told her he can always see into the minds of humans and she wondered if it worked for his fellow eternals. to her it was so strong it nearly made her cry but she pushed it back as she was familiar with the feeling when she lost her parents, bucky, steve, and natasha.

when the fire burned out everyone went back to camp but eris stayed. she told druig she would be there soon but she wasn't sure if she could sleep at all. as she sat on the edge of the water she felt a presence next to her.

"hi." thena said with a soft crack in her voice. eris smiled and thena took that as an invitation to sit.

"i'm eris." she mumbled staring back off into the water.

"i'm thena." she whispered softly crossing her legs. eris couldn't help but notice how graceful she seemed even after losing gilgamesh.

"i've heard a lot about you." eris smiled recalling all of the stories druig had told her. eris glanced back to see thenas eyes brighten.

"druig i presume?" thena questioned making eris chuckle and nod her head.

"i'm sorry he sounded like a good man." eris muttered watch thenas eyes drop again and continued . "i don't like pity either. i always think that it's pointless, like it won't bring them back."

"i agree. have you lost someone?" thena asked causing eris to frown. it wasn't that she had lost but that she had also taken so many lives, ones that she mourns for every day.

"i lost my parents and my best friends." eris stated dryly not wanting to go much further into the topic. thena picked up on it and changed the subject.

"you and druig seem close." she stated slyly bringing a smile to eris's face.

"i guess you can say i like him." eris said playfully making thena smile.

"good, it's about time someone cares for that pain in the ass." thena joked causing eris to throw her head back with laughter. the rest of the night they shared stories about there battles. eris started every story with 'it's not as cool as yours but' but nonetheless thena still listened with wide eyes.

when the sun started to break the horizon eris helped thena collect the cooled off ashes.

"can you stay?" thena whispered and immediately eris nodded watching thena walk into the water. in the distance druig watched her and thena. she turned to him and smiled weakly with a small wave. in that moment druig knew he would do whatever it takes to get to spend more time with his little angel.
