Chapter 21

The sunlight today seemed to be less impactful than its usual burning effect it acquired by noon as it entered through the curtain gaps to provide even the smallest specks of light illumination. Hongjoong could feel the covers underneath him rest wrinkled but not bothering him. An arm around his waist and a nose pressed right to his nape sent shivers down his body. The soft fingers curled around his waist were strong in an unusual expectation from their relation.

Slowly and softly, Hongjoong whined and fluttered his eyes open meeting no sunlight assualt. He was still light headed from the past experience and still felt as if it had been only a few seconds since then as he turned his head slowly only to find it impossible enough with the head curled around his shoulder with his nose in his nape.  Soft whines erupted the plump lips of the head pressed against his neck, sending shivers down Hongjoong's spine at the contact.

After what seemed like the other was awake did Hongjoong stir a little more in the grasp of the other until he separated his head from Hongjoong's neck, a sigh of relief parting Hongjoong's lips until his eyes fell on San. A weirdly expressionless countenance crossed Hongjoong's face in what seemed confusion and relief. San on the other hand seemed really happy as he curled his lips into a sweet smile, his morning voice softly muttering. "You're awake..."

Hongjoong didn't give a verbal reply, his mind was still wrapped around numerous events and questions. Hongjoong couldn't understand things at all. Lately he doubted it was him who was crazy and needed a doctor. Maybe this all wasn't even true and he was just hallucinating. He couldn't understand what happened last night. He remembers what happened and the memory of it all makes him disgusted. Disgusted of himself. Of how he gave in to Seonghwa's tricks. But what confused him more was how it all started with him and San, continued with him and Seonghwa and ended with him and San again. Everything felt like a mystery and he wanted it all to be back to normal. He can't take this all anymore.

San didn't mind it though as he leaned in to connect his lips slowly to Hongjoong's cherry ones. Hongjoong didn't even close his eyes for that, nor move his lips, just present there physically. San's eyebrows furrowed at the loss of interest as he pulled back, staring at Hongjoong's face a little confused. He brought his hand up to Hongjoong's forehead slowly checking.

"You're not sick. Joong, is everything alright?" San questioned worry lacing his words. Hongjoong came to his senses at that, his eyes blinking multiple times before he stared back at Hongjoong. "Y-Yeah I'm a-alright. I'll go take a shower first." Hongjoong started scrambling out of San's hold as he didn't give a look to San's disappointed worried face entering the bathroom instead. Immediately inside, Hongjoong was about to enter the shower before his eyes fell on the mirror.

There he stood, his hair disheveled while his forehead almost hid behind the branching locks. His eyes seemed almost dead as he stared right through himself. It was as if the mirror wasn't showing his outer appearance but his inner condition. The way a flower blooms in the day only to close itself at night for rest. Hongjoong felt the same except that his night was one of those unfortunate days where the flower is plucked by a careless lover to present it to his love who doesn't even love him back. Hongjoong's world was crushing down upon him as he shook his head slightly, slowly backing against the bathroom wall until his back hit the cold tiles.

His whole body shivered not on the contact but on the realisation of what was happening to his life day by day. Hongjoong slid down the wall, his eyes shutting down as warm tears started fighting his lids to escape, whimpers following behind. Knees drawn up close to his chest, Hongjoong let himself out. One side San was at the bridge of death and the other side his whole being was wishing to die himself. He can imagine San's beautiful smiles whenever he was happy. He can see them flashing right before his closed lids as his tears grew stronger while he fought to not let the sounds escape outside the bathroom wall.

Hongjoong could feel his body growing weaker at every single memory of last night. That's when the thought of San's face before his eyes closed last night crossed his mind. He stilled.

San could hear the shower turn on from outside. As he stayed in the bed playing with his phone in the silence and listened to the water's noise, he waited for Hongjoong to be done. After 10 minutes he heard the noises go down, he assumed Hongjoong was done as he got out of bed to look through his clothes and pick something to wear afterwards. Hongjoong got out of the shower to find San's lower half wrapped in a blanket as he searched out clothes.

Hongjoong stared at San's back for a few minutes silently until his stare was caught. "What you staring at?" San questioned chuckling a little while he turned around. Hongjoong just roamed his eyes to mutter out something when he heard San's bare feet walk towards him. Feeling San's finger pads tickle his neck to ascend his cheek, Hongjoong looked up. "N-nothing." Muttering out a slight absent minded reply, Hongjoong was about to pull back when he felt San pull him closer in a soft kiss.

Hongjoong didn't pull back this time, instead he kissed back with as much meaning to it. The way San and his lips moulded together and his mind felt as if it wasn't thinking anymore. This was the single result of a single kiss he had with San. This was the power San had on him. This was the power his love had for him. Pulling back only to pant with raged breath, San and Hongjoong stayed that way for a while, their foreheads resting against each other.

"Joongie...I hope you'll let me know if something is bothering you..." San whispered softly while his eyes were still closed, his hand caressing Hongjoong's soft cheek. Hongjoong opened his eyes at that though, slowly pulling away fully now to stare back at San's eyes. Taking a deep breath in, Hongjoong nodded. "Don't worry love, I will." Saying that, Hongjoong walked to dry his hair while searching for something to wear. San sighed before walking off inside the bathroom and locking the door behind.

When he turned around from the door though, his eyes fell upon the bathroom floor. Staring for a while at it, San blinked multiple times before he just entered the shower turning the shower head on. Humming a random song, San rinsed off the soap on his body.

Who knew the soap washing away with the water spray was as red as the foot prints from Hongjoong on the bathroom floor a while ago as it escaped through the drainage pipe.
