"Hi there, paw patrol! Happy birthday! D'you get my present?"
"I did," She walked around the apartment while holding the phone between her shoulder and ear. "But the fact that you showed it to me last month kinda killed the surprise."
"You're welcome," Tony retorted. "Enjoy the suit, all nanotech. Please do not break it cause it's meant to last until you turn twenty-one."
"Got it."
"Is Pietro there? I gotta talk to him a moment."
"Hang on," She grabbed the phone and shouted. "Pietro, our surrogate mother is asking for you!"
"I heard that!" The man scolded. "Don't ever call me that!"
"I won't," She muttered. "To your face..."
The older boy came out from the bathroom and grabbed the phone with his hands still wet, she complained loudly about it but he ignored it.
"Pietro here," He spoke. "Yeah, we're having a few people over... No, I'm not giving them beers! Have you seen her friends? Tony, I'm old enough, okay? I'm not stupid... that was uncalled for. Okay. Yes. Bye!"
He gave her the phone back. "Mom wants to say goodbye."
She heard Tony throw insults and waited until he'd finished.
"I'll be good, Tony. It'll be a nice, age-appropriate party. Have I ever disobeyed you? Peter wouldn't let me misbehave anyway, he's too nice."
"More like a complete dork," Pietro mumbled, she stepped on his foot as she walked past.
"Have fun. I'll send your allowance tomorrow morning."
"Thank you. Tell Pepper, Rhodes, and Happy that we say hi!"
"Tell Vision to stay away from my sister!" Pietro spoke over her.
She hung up and gave him a severe glare.
"You don't even know if they're together," The girl told him. "Maybe he's just keeping her company?"
Pietro scoffed as a response.

"Happy birthday, C.C!" Betty gave her a book. "I remember you said something about people giving their favorite books to friends as a present and that you thought it was really sweet, well, here it is!"
"Oh," C.C. raised her eyebrows. "Thanks, Betty! I didn't think you'd remember..."
"I wrote a little note on the back and everything," The girl said proudly. "I hope you like it!"
"I'm sure I will, thank you," She hugged her briefly. "Hey, you'll come tonight? To the party?"
"Oh, sure!" Betty beamed. "Can I bring a friend?"
"Sure, but just one. My brother's place is small."
They parted ways and C.C. directed herself to the benches near the football field where MJ and Pietro used to hang out. There she found Peter, Ned, and MJ all waiting for her. They'd made a sign with cat paws all around that read "Happy 16th!".
"Happy birthday!" The trio shouted.
"You guys!" C.C. covered her mouth in shock. "That's so cool!"
Peter wrapped his arms around her.
"Do you like the sign? It was my idea," He said.
"It's awesome," She laughed. "Oh! You bought me a cupcake!"
