17: a night out

Caroline was the answer. She had to be. Which is why she was shopping with her.

"Try this one" Evelyn said as she held up a piece of clothing, "Maybe Tyler will like it when you go on a date?" she edged on trying to pry something out of her.

"Oh, I doubt that. We rarely go out now that Tyler is one of Klaus' minions" Caroline spoke out then immediately began to apologise.

Evelyn let out a smile, "Jesus, you look like I'm going to eat you! I know how Klaus is like, with all his demands and all that"

"Yeah he has a lot of demands" Caroline let out a chuckle.

Evelyn let out a chuckle as she spoke, "I mean, sometimes I can understand why you wanted to kill Klaus. Hopefully someone is plotting it" she let out a sad expression, hoping for it to look convincing as a tear slid out.

"Oh my god, what's wrong?" Caroline incredulously spoke out, rubbing a comforting hand on her back.

Evelyn broke out in sob, fake tears sliding down her face, "oh, Athena! He's such a horrible man!" she let out more tears as she sobbed against Caroline, "Sometimes he hurts me, is that normal for a husband to do?" She asked, adding innocence to her voice as she batted her eyelashes to Caroline, making sure to use her power to sway her; to tell her what she wants.

She weaved inside her mind, trying to sort out the voices, "I should tell her!" she heard Caroline's voice echo through her mind. She sobbed louder, "Oh, God! He's a monster!" she said very dramatically as she let out more tears.

"Oh, I suppose I am" a voice came. It was Klaus. She turned to her husband standing there with an unreadable expression. "Come on, darling. Let's go home" he proceeded to walk to her. Caroline stepped in front of her.

"I don't think she wants to come with you" she bravely spoke to Klaus. She watched his expression turn into a humorous one as he spoke, "You've got to be joking! You're going to stop me?" He let out a laugh.

"Stop being someone's lapdog, darling and come home" Klaus spoke to her as she pretended to back away in fear.

She put up a brave front, "Says the dog" she watched him step closer as Caroline was blocking him.

Evelyn put a hand on the vampires arm, "It's okay, Caroline. I've got this. You can go" she watched Caroline hesitantly leave. As soon as she felt her presence go, she turned to Klaus.

She hissed out, "You idiot! You nearly ruined my plan!" she said in annoyance.

Klaus let out an exasperated sigh, "Says the one who's saying I'm a wife beater! Why would you say that?!"

"Because people sympathise a women who's getting beaten by her husband. Especially other women! I know!" She yelled out.

Klaus flapped his arms around as he spoke, "Fuck! You truly are my monster" he yelled out.
