Chapter 20. His Point of View
Damn! Finally, I managed to buy that sparkling water or whatever they call it. Why does that eccentric lady insist on drinking it and ask me to fetch it for her when she could simply order her maids to do so?
I let out a heavy sigh and reached into my pocket, retrieving a small chest-like box. But this was no ordinary box-it was a magical device, more like a bag but with expansive space. They call it a space-time repository.
"Storage open," I chanted. The box obediently opened, swiftly swallowing the bottle of sparkling water.
With that taken care of, I resumed my walk. I never expected to be this late just because the line at that store was unbelievably long.
I fail to comprehend their obsession with this drink. It's nothing more than water with some added sweet flavor. It's not as if this beverage possesses any extraordinary healing powers. Tch.
The town is bustling today. It's probably because of the small celebration for the commoners-Fiestecita. It's like an informal social gathering, a modest party to bring people together.
I'm glad that the imperial palace of the Emperor approved such an event for them. After all, they too are part of this Empire.
I was crossing the bridge when I noticed a lady standing perilously close to its edge. She was on the verge of falling!
Without thinking, I instinctively sprinted towards her and swiftly wrapped my arm around her waist, preventing her from losing balance.
Phew! That was a close call. Thank goodness I arrived just in time. I let out a sigh of relief.
"Are you alright?" I inquired, still holding her securely.
She opened her eyes and gazed directly into my face. I arched an eyebrow. Was she unable to speak? I pondered internally. Of course, I couldn't ask her that directly, as it might come across as offensive. I definitely wanted to avoid that.
"Lady?" I called out to her again.
As she continued to stare at me, I couldn't help but study her features. She had beautiful brown hair and fair skin, but she seemed delicate, almost too frail. It felt as though if I were to hold her tightly, as I normally would, she might break. She appeared incredibly fragile.
Yet, there was something more captivating about her. Her eyes, a mesmerizing shade of ruby red, glimmered enchantingly. I found myself entranced by their radiance. It was an undeniable truth that I couldn't help but acknowledge-she is truly beautiful.
"You look incredibly handsome..."
The surroundings were filled with noise as the fireworks illuminated the sky. Despite the cacophony, her words reached my ears loud and clear. I could feel my ears burning with heat.
