AITANA
I enter the VIP room just after 11 PM, exhausted but relieved: part one of our plan has been a success, thanks to Rosella's mysterious mastery of martial arts and guns.
My three mates were sitting on the couch, laughing their asses off. I must say, TVK was more than any killer organisation (only saying that can seem odd to certain people, but not to us): it was a group of friends, that were all so different that it somehow works. Just like I am relaxed and mostly nice, Christen was a bitch most of the time and enjoys playing with people's minds. But we get along just fine, her sarcasm and my repartee going together just fine. Same could be said about Rosella, who was this kind of relaxed guru that then does karate, while Ona just uses the heated version by kicking everybody's asses immediately, but somewhat manages to engage in diplomatic talks quite well.
Either way, the four of us together - and, not so long ago, along with Jenni and Zeka - are the only thing we all have in our lives. We have nobody : we are nobodies, without family, without friends... We had each other, thankfully.
When they spot me, they all start cheering, as I roll my eyes and say:
"We will celebrate once Mrs Lehmann is dead, alright?"
"Pet peeve" Rosella comments, smirking.
That makes Christen laugh, as Ona remains serious.
"Apart from Ros, we must keep our heads low for the next few days, even weeks: go to work, be patient, and we'll meet here on Saturday night during the party, yeah?"
"Alright boss" Ona says, nodding her head.
"I'm gonna get some sleep before tomorrow, so: peace out!" Rosella says, before walking away, her middle finger directed at us in irony.
"I'm gonna head out too" Christen states, smirking, "I've got a party to attend."
"Have fun" I let out, as the American walks out as well.
There were only Ona and I left, as I immediately serve us a glass of scotch and immediately go back behind my computer. The brunette, who is observing me from the couch, just starts laughing smoothly.
Turning around, I just ask:
"What?"
Ona stares at me for a while longer, before declaring:
"Can't you ever catch a break, Aia? I swear to God, it's like you never sleep."
"Well, if I start sleeping the whole world is gonna collapse, so I don't really have a choice" I let out, almost annoyed.
Ona backs off, just saying:
"Jeez, Jenni never gave you enough credit: you've been holding all this (she gestures everywhere around us) together all this time, and you still think you're not the perfect leader?"
Willing to change the subject - mostly because it was stressing me out - I just turn around and start typing on my computer again.
Let me be clear: taking the leadership from Lia also meant sparing her life. Now she gets to go to Switzerland with Jill, where they are happy, while I am here cleaning others' messes - first Jenni's, and now Mapi's, as everybody despise TVK now. Of course it was the right thing to do, I mean, I had nobody, and she had someone, and although I am not always good at maths, I knew it was a good thing to be done.
Ona doesn't let go that easily, as I can feel her staring, still sitting on the couch. I turn around, before asking:
"Don't you have somewhere to be?"
