AITANA
I jump a little when Ona enters the room.
"Mierda, you fucking scared me!" I exclaim, catching my breath.
Ona rolls her eyes, amused.
"You've always been so tipsy, reina del drama" she openly mocks me, before sitting down on the chair next to me. As I throw her a dark glare, she goes on while ignoring it: "So, what's that you're working on, genius?"
"Trying to dig dirt on Lehmann's campaign manager and her assistant, but so far no progress."
"How's Ros?"
"She's doing good for now: she is slowly gaining Mrs Lehmann's trust, although I think she will be tested at one point. Next step is to befriend Diani and Feiersinger to see if they know more than they seem, and to investigate on Mrs Lehmann's daughter, because something tells me she isn't the angel her mother claims her to be."
Ona nods.
"Nice" she comments, smirking. Looking toward her, I just wait as she adds: "Now, what do you want me to do?"
I take a few seconds to think about it, before saying:
"Why don't you stay here and help me?"
Of course her eyes are disapproving, as she says:
"Aia, you can't keep me in here forever: I belong to the field, and one incident will never change that..."
"I thought you were gonna die" I coldly answer, setting my jaw. Jesus, calm down, I tell myself, before staring straight at my screen again, and adding: "I can't bear any more losses."
Ona frowns, before turning my chair toward her, forcing me to look at her. I set my jaw, as she declares solemnly:
"Listen, I'm sorry if you're scared, but if I don't do everything I can to ensure this mission is a success, then I'm gonna be mad at myself if anything happens to the girls... I failed Zeka already, and-"
"Zeka failed herself" I say, nodding my head. As Ona throws me a confused look, I just say: "Putellas showed me a picture of her and Alisha Lehmann kissing. I guess she was hiding stuff from us, so don't you dare saying you failed her."
Ona's eyes become dark.
"What do you mean 'Putellas told you'?" the brunette asks, confused and angry at the same time.
Sighing, I just tell Ona about my little trip to the police station. If she was really mad at me at first, she starts chilling out when I tell her about my collaboration with the police, as well as the fact that I was going to tell her today since she is my best friend and confidant.
Afterwards, she just stares at me, frowning.
"You don't wanna tell the rest of the team? Why?" she asks, confused.
"Not yet: you know how they feel about the police."
"Alright, I'll follow your lead: but be careful, secrets are what makes the strongest bonds get weak."
I nod my head.
"Now..." I start.
But as I try to get up, Ona gets up as well, which makes us stand really close to each other. When I freeze and feel Ona's eyes slipping on my lips, I just awkwardly cough and look away. She does the same, before letting me through.
I take a few steps of space, before she says:
"Sorry, I didn't mean to-"
"You know nothing can happen between us... again... right?"
