First Date

In the car, I just can't wait to pick them up on our very first date. Is it cool if I hold their hand? Is it wrong if I think its lame to dance?

I park at the address Gee gave me, and I get out of the car. Knocking on the door, I run a hand through my hair, hoping it doesn't look stupid.

Gee opens the door looking so good, and I'm suddenly incredibly concious of the ripped black jeans and loose Iron Maiden T-shirt I'm wearing. Gee is also wearing an Iron Maiden T-shirt, only they're wearing it with a skirt, some white Keds and tube socks. They look so fucking pretty.

"You look beautiful Gee. Should we go?" I ask, and they nod, and follow me to the car. I open the door for them, and they giggle slightly.

We're on our way to the little diner I wanted to take them to, listening to an Iron Maiden CD, when Gee turns the volume down slightly and starts a conversation.

"You know I've never been on a real date before," they said, looking at me and smiling.

"Really?" I respond, thinking back to Bert and how he really doesn't seem like a date guy now that I think about it.

"Really. Not even with Bert. He thought that dates were a waste of time and money, and he wasn't very happy about the fact that I thought otherwise," they started, and then they revealed something that really horrified me.

"He thought relationships were just for sex. He would make me do it with him even if I didn't want to. And if I said no or I tried to fight back he'd hit me and tell me how bad a partner I was for not wanting to have sex with him."

"Shit Gee," I parked the car next to the diner and got out, walking to the other side to open the door for them. "That's horrible. I'm so sorry you had to go through all of that, you deserve so much better."

"It wasn't your fault. Anyway, tonight's not about him, it's about me and you."

"Me and you," I repeat, opening the diner door for Gee and finding a table for us to sit down at.

When Gee smiles I melt inside, they make me nervous so I really can't eat.

It's almost time for the show by the time we finish eating, so Gee and I leave the diner and we walk the short distance to the venue. Gee takes my hand in theirs and intertwines our fingers, making me let out a small smile as they show our tickets to the person at the barricades.

I dread the thought of Gee and I's very first kiss, I'm probably going to miss when- if- we get that far.

The show was amazing, and the company made it a thousand times better. I want this night to last forever, but as they do, all good things must come to end.
