It's been so long
Since I last have seen my son
lost to this monster
To the man behind the slaughter┘
I practically screamed the lyrics as they played through the speakers of my car.
"I don't know what I was thinking
Leaving my child behind
Now I suffer the curse and now I am blind
With all this anger, guilt and sadness
Coming to haunt me forever
I can't wait for the cliff at the end of the river"The city lights quickly vanished and I was soon surrounded by large mountains with a beautiful mix of an apricot and lavender sky emitting from behind them. I looked up briefly at the sky and smiled softly.
"It's been so long since I've seen the sunset, gosh it's beautiful."
I made my way down a gravel driveway which led to a large log cabin at the top of a hill surrounded by a beautiful Alpine Forest.
Taking the keys out of the ignition, I grabbed my backpack before fixing the floral sundress I chose for todays occasion.
I walked up to the house and took in a deep breath before opening the door revealing at least 50 or so people, they all jumped up and screamed "Were so thrilled to celebrate your new home with you, Y/N!"
I gave them a small smile, and was quickly met with my best friend Johaan . Unsurprisingly he was carrying alcohol. I smiled up at him and he ushered me to grab a beer. I laughed and took it, cracking it open and pressing the cold bottle to my lips before chugging it.
"This is a beautiful house y/n. I hope you can finally start new and be happy here." He smiled wrapping his arm around my shoulder pulling me in for a hug.
I happily allowed him too and smiled while saying "Gosh I hope this is all worth it in the end, Lord knows I deserve to have at least some serenity in my life."
- Later That Night -
The sky was now the color of obsidian, with stars beautifully painted across it. I smiled and leaned back in the chair taking in the beautiful sight of the cosmos dancing around in my vision.
Honestly it was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen in my life.
I smiled up in awe finally realizing that this is my fresh start, and I deserve this. I deserve to be happy, and I deserve to be able to feel content with my own life.
Large hands grasped my shoulders and a man leans in, a friend from my childhood Roger, he smiled and gave me a kiss on the cheek earning a side eye from Johaan. I scoffed at his little act of jealousy, and leaned my head against Roger, staring up at him smiling.
"Y/n how would you feel about playing Jailbreak like we used to at the trailer park?"
A shit eating grin immediately slithered its way across my face. "Is that even a question? Of course I want to play!"
He laughed, jumping and throwing his fists into the air "Everyone!! We're going to play JailBreak! The shed in the backyard is the Jail, run and don't get caught! If you get caught a teammate of yours has to touch the shed causing a jailbreak, once everyone is caught the game is over!"
Everyone cheered and we all got in our positions after playing a quick game of Rock, Paper, Scissors between Johaan and Roger. Poor Johaan was it!
"Alright count down from 20 Johaan! Everyone run and hide!" Roger screamed and just like that everyone began running into different directions towards the woods.
I ran and began laughing to myself as I retrieved my phone from my bra and turned on my flashlight so I could see a little ahead of me.
I decided I would hide behind a large Willow Tree that was placed beautifully in the center of the woods.
I huffed and squatted down and tucked my flashlight against my dress as to not give my hiding spot away. I heard rustling coming from my right, and shifted a little more behind the tree to hope I didn't get caught.
Silence. Silence was all I heard. It was eerily silent for over 50 people to be hiding in these woods. I quickly became anxious, and before I knew it I saw Johaan charging at me in a full sprint.
I screamed dashing from my spot and running into the opposite direction. I had the biggest smile on my face, a genuine smile. A smile I hadn't had in awhile.
He laughed hysterically and so did I, just as he was about to reach out to me and grab ahold of me. I cut to the right causing him to go to a halt and tumble over smacking his knees against the damp forest floor. He sat up brushing himself off.
He said in a sarcastic tone "This bitch really just broke my ankles, what the fuck."
I laughed at him with a huge smile and gasping for air. "Alright Johaan you caught me, I can't do this no more, take me away please."
He stood their for a moment just smiling at me, and I began to walk towards him with my arms out when a loud snap was heard underneath of me.
He stared at me with worry in his eyes and I stood still. I wouldn't dare to move my body. I knew as soon as I did, that it'd happen.
I was standing on a piece of wood, and he noticed and as he was about to grab me and pull me off it, I fell.
The wood broke from underneath of me leaving me falling down a large well.
I screamed reaching up for him, an electric shock bouncing off of our fingertips as they barely grazed each other.
He screamed out to me, crying.
I was falling for a long time, tears drenching my face and flying through the air. I knew this was it, I knew I was going to die.
I screamed out in a fit of regret and terror, "Please God, I know I'm selfish, but I really wanted this new beginning. Please give me a second chance. Please! I don't deserve this!"
I cried still falling into this large abyss, when a bright purple light started to shine at what I suspected to be the bottom of the well.
I called out crying "I'm sorry..." I closed my eyes, embracing myself for the impact.
"Hey dear, are you okay?" I gasped out loud, throwing my head up from my arms, shooting my eyes open with tears streaming down my face.
