Lan Xichen P.O.V
You may have figured out by now that I'm in an intimate web with someone special. Sure, I have a way of hiding things from everyone- even my most trusted baby brother, but believe me when I say this was not something I wanted to hide... At least not this long. But since you're the audience, I might as well let you get a sneak peek of how it all started. Like the author likes to say in steamy situations, read with one eye open...
* Chapter 4 *
It was the summer Lan Wangji admitted to falling in love with a recklessly beautiful man. One of the students from the University of Gusu. Since the Lan Family were board members, they handled some of the affairs. That was where the magic happened for Lan Wangji, stumbling into the young man who challenged him at a conference meant to address student concerns.
Lan Xichen became his brother's love Guru, telling Wangji the most gentlemanly things to do to win a date with his love interest. Of course, there were also the not-so-coincident meetups Xichen caused along the way. He had the person's family background and schedules checked to line up events that would make up for a beautiful love story. One of which involved making their parents go into a contract with the Jiangs and building a closer relationship.
As Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian's love zinged, Xichen was distracted by another complicated lotus in the Jiang Family.
Xichen had passed by the Jiang Estate with Lan Wangji to present a proposal their father authorized. Fortunately or not, the clouds let loose and the brothers had to stay longer for cover.
Yes, Xichen Knew it would rain...Yes again, to him urging his baby brother to accept an invitation to Wei Ying's room.
Left alone downstairs Lan Xichen stepped onto the patio, watching the heavy downpour and appreciating the chilly air that came with it. It was at that moment he spotted a person strolling through the rain, head in the dumps, drenched through and through with no likely intention of seeking shelter.
Concerned, Lan Xichen picked up an umbrella a servant left outside and walked over. Jiang Cheng realized the jade's presence when the rain stopped beating him with the same intensity. He looked up and scowled, "Take that thing away before I stab you in the leg!"
"Pardon me but, are you not Wei Wuxian's brother?" Xichen thought a warm smile could solve this problem.
"And should I have to answer your dumb questions? Leave me alone, would you?" Jiang Cheng looked elsewhere, thinking the man would get pissed and disappear.
Nodding once, Lan Xichen turned to leave but a thought crossed his mind when he veered his neck back at the man sitting on the lawn like a broken record.
"What now!" Jiang Cheng fumed when the shade of an umbrella fell on him the second time.
"You could at least tell me why you're like this. You'll catch a cold if you stay in the rain," Xichen was gentle.
"So what if I die in this rain! It's not gonna please her anyway, so fuck off!" Jiang Cheng tucked in his knees and buried his head in them. He had said too much.
"Her?" Xichen raised a brow, not knowing whether to laugh or sympathize with him. He understood that heartbreak could make a man lose himself but this was just too silly. Well, if Jiang Cheng was seeking a slow death then perhaps he could help with the process.
Flipping the umbrella upside down, Lan Xichen took a seat on the wet grass. Yeah, the rain was as cold as it looked. But beside him was a healthy young man glaring as if he was the crazy one.
