When I finished getting ready I walked outside, finding Hayes standing by the barn looking at the ground. He must be in deep thought because when I got quite close he jumped, getting quickly startled.
"Ready?" I asked, smiling. He nodded as we started walking.

As I was in the middle of explaining a story, that wasn't even that important, Hayes' hand brushed against mine. I continued talking, looking at him, realizing what he did. He looked over at me and we locked eye contact. I stopped talking and we both ended up stopping. As I began to walk away he grabbed my hand, turning me around so I can face him.
"Don't act like you didn't like it." Hayes whispered, with his fingers interlocking with mine. Butterflies filled my stomach right to the top. I stared at our hands, then let my eyes wonder to his.
Our lips then crashed together.
"Sarah?" Hayes whispered after the kiss. I looked up at him.
"Yeah?"
"I'm just going to say it. I like you." He whispered. I stood in silence. "Sarah?" Hayes asked, wondering what I'm thinking.
Nothing was spoken. He then sighed.
"It's okay. I get it. You still don't forgive me for what I did, five years ago. I regret and continue to regret what I did. I'm sorry I never texted you back from when you moved. I wish I would have sent something. Like a 'glad you made it safely. I love you.' type of text. Or something. But I didn't. I understand if you don't think that I'm the right guy for you. Sorry if I made you feel hurt or mistreated. A beautiful girl, like you, deserves someone better than me I guess. I'm sorry I made you feel that way." Hayes finished, letting go of my hands and walking away.

I could tell Hayes must have been thinking that for quite some time. No one could have ever thought of something, like that, so heart filled in such a small amount of time to come up with it.
Slowly, I watched him walk farther and farther away from me.

I don't know if I like him back. I think I do but I don't know. I just didn't want to get hurt again. Five years ago, I was head over heels in love with Hayes. Then one day, he left me. I was afraid that I would have to relive that pain and feeling again. That, is something I didn't want to feel again.

Hayes and I are now by a tree. Before my parents moved out here, the couple before them has one of those homemade tree swings that attaches to an old tree. I'm sitting on the wood board swing as Hayes is leaning against the tree as his knees were kinda close to his chest. His arms were resting on his knees.
"Is this going to be our spot?" Hayes asked, looking up from looking at his hands.
"Our spot?" I asked, confused.
"Yeah. Our spot. Like how five years ago our spot was the place on my roof where our names are. Is this going to be our new spot?" He smiled, as I did too.
"I guess it is." I used my feet to gently push me back and forth as I leaned slightly against the rope. He then stood up and awkwardly stood behind me. "Do you want to sit down?" I asked, moving over so he could sit beside me. He accepted and sat down. I listened to the birds chirping and the wind blowing and rattling the leaves. A full rush of relaxation ran though my body. This is a feeling I don't want to escape nor loose.

After talking and sitting together, Hayes decided to push me on the swing.
"Hayes! This is too high for my liking!" I stated, leaning more closer to one side of the ropes. He continued to push, not really listening to me.
"It's fine."
"I feel as if I'm about to fall off." Hayes then lowered me closer to the ground.
"Afraid of heights?" He asked, continuing to push me but not as high as before. I lightly snickered.
"Pfft. No." I turned around to face his as I continued to swing. I slightly rolled my eyes.
"Bet you are." Hayes smirked.
"Nope." I popped the 'p'.
"You sure?"
"Positive"
"Okay." Hayes said through a smile. He then started pushing he harder, causing me to go higher.
"Hayes! Stop!" I laughed.
"Scared of heights now?"
"Yes! Now stop!" I laughed, holding on to the rope with both of my hands. He then got me to a complete stop.
Hayes randomly decided to sit on my lap. "What are you doing?" I laughed as he did too. I then wrapped my arms around him. "You're so weird."
"Well, if girls can do this to a guy, it's fine. But when guys do it to a girl, it's just plain weird." Hayes said, chuckling.
"I never said it was weird, I just said you're weird." I chuckled back.
"What would you say we hang out tomorrow?" Hayes smiled.
"Hanging out?" I smiled. "When? What are we doing?" I raised my eye brows, relieved that after all that, Hayes isn't permanently mad at me from not saying anything.
"Tomorrow. Not saying." Hayes smiled as I heard laughing coming from the background. It must have been the guys coming over to us.
"Sounds perfect." I smiled, looking in his eyes.

"Hey love birds." Nash smiled, walking forward to us along with all of the other guys.
"Hey." I smiled, standing up and going to give them a hug.
"Did Hayes ask you out yet?" Nash joked as I looked at Hayes. He blushed and looked down.
"No." I said, confused at where we stand.
We act as if we are dating but we're not. We do things. But, I think it is being done in more than a friendly way.
"Oh." Nash stated, looking around. "Well this just got awkward." He chuckled.
"It's fine." I looked down and shrugged it off.
"Your parents have a nice house." Matt complimented, sitting down on the tree swing and gently swung back and forth.
"Yeah, I'm slightly jealous." I chuckle.
The rest of the guys just laughed as we then started a random conversation.
