I laid on my bed, scrolling through my laptop staring at the assignment in front of me. Class starts next Wednesday and my professor gave everyone an optional assignment to see everyone skill level. A sigh escapes my mouth as I lay backwards, thinking of whatever i could do for it. It was fairly simple, on the surface.

'paint what made you who you are today'

Certainly easier said than done. A blank canvas and a paint pallette sit next to me lifelessly as I rack my brain for ideas. I couldn't think of anything.
Volleyball? No, there's been more important things.
My family? They still want me to switch my major to law, so no.

My train of thought stopped when the crashing of the door opening made me flinch. "Kenma!! Remember that biology nerd party I was on about?" Kuroo said, setting my laptop aside as he sat on my bed with me. "It's in thirty minutes so you better get ready." He smirked.
"Could you not have given me any extra warning?" I complained, grabbing the volleyball hoodie I bought for Kuroo's team and a nice new pair of jeans over my Christmas pajama trousers I was wearing.
"I only just remembered! Sorry" he looked around at my messy room. I had been here for three days and the floor was almost invisible under clothes, energy drink cans and used paint tubes.

I say in the passenger seat, playing whatever music was first on the playlist Kuroo had made me on his Spotify. I watched his focused look before averting my gaze to the open road. The streetlight, the cars, the trees in the background. It was all very calming. I opened the window slightly, feeling the cool breeze hit my face. "You good, ken?" Kuroo asked, his hand on my thigh. I nodded. "Just tired. I'm sure I'll be better in a few minutes" he nodded in return.

When we pulled up to the drive way, the music was already blasting and you could here it from outside. Colourful lights peeked through gaps in the curtains as we walked up. I slid my hand into his but as soon as we entered he was dragged away by Sugawara and Oikawa. I walked up to the bar, pouring fresh punch into the clear cup. I felt so awkward without kuroo. The music was incredibly loud too, so that didn't help. It was so hot, and loud, and crowded I felt like I was in hell.

"Kenma!!" I heard a voice from behind me. It was Bokuto. "Come with me" he said, grabbing my wrist and dragging me into the kitchen. As we walked it felt like all eyes were on me, people whispered my name and stared at me for a few seconds before giggling to their friends.

"Have you heard what people are saying?" He said, a worried expression on his face.
"What? No? What's wrong?" I panicked. Bokuto sighed, unsure of how to get his words out. "There's this kid in our year, Daishou. He's a bitch, he's always spreading rumours about everyone and now he is telling everyone about... October."
"What?! How the fuck does he know?! Where is he?"
"Kenma calm down. He only told the people in his class so not everyone knows" he said. "But as long as you don't say I encouraged you, he's by the front door."

I burst out the room without another word, pushing past people  as if they weren't even there. As I approach them, I see Daishou and Kuroo.
"Why the fuck are you sayimg that shit man? It's really not your place" kuroo yelled, but it still seemed like a regular volume because of all the chatter in the background.
"Why do you care? You probably don't even remember back then, you were probably out getting drunk or something" he snickered.

Smack

Kuroo threw the first punch, Daishou quickly retaliating.

What did he mean by that?
He was out getting drunk?
Kuroo was out with family that day.
