It's been four days now. Leaving my mom with only four days left. She is still very weak but I have gained enough strength to get up out of bed. Kayla and Ashley visited multiple times leaving me with flowers and balloons every time. My room was now a pity forest. They cried every time they saw me. It hurt me to see them this way it hurt me to think of my mother and it hurt me in every way.
It was an early Tuesday morning in October. Everyone except William and myself had went hunting. I got out of bed and trudged downstairs, followed by my puppy Guardian. She was a year old now and weighed five pounds. I let her outside in the backyard while I turned back to grab some orange juice. As I went to go put the jar back in the fridge a horrible pain hit me in my chest. I dropped the jar to the floor. Luckily it wasn't glass so it didn't break and spill. I clutched my chest right over my heart, which seemed to be the source of the pain. I waited a few second to see if the pain would pass. I was wrong. I tried to stand straight but the simple task only made the pain worse. It know felt like a knife to the heart. I fell to my knees and screamed. William popped his head around the corner and watched me suffer. I screamed louder. The pain only grew faster and faster. The pain took me to the back of my mind when I was at Lycanthrope Industries. The pain I was feeling at the moment resembled the pain from a week ago. The same major sting, the same deadly dizziness, the same fire all over. I couldn't take the pain anymore, I fell to the floor completely. I screamed once again. William now headed towards me and lifted me up and carried me to the couch. He gave me a small pill and the pain instantly melted away. Once I caught my breath and regain stableness I sat up. William was sitting on the coffee table in front of me. I looked at him, no I take that back, I glared at him. He had stood there and watched me suffer. I growled at him. It took me by shock that I had just growled but I punched him. I punched him hard.
"What the heck was that for?" William rubbed his aching face.
I cracked my knuckles. "That was for just standing there watching me nearly die!"
"You weren't dying, plus I had to see what was wrong with you first."
"I'm guessing you did. Because that pill you gave me helped a lot."
William stood. "You were spiritually changing. Your spirit was realizing It was no longer human and was having a hard time accepting it."
"Is everyone who changes like that?"
He sighed. "No, Not everyone. So people are born a werewolf and when that happens they are just noisy and bruise easily as a baby. For people who are administrated the WWTV well they experience great deals of pain. Some have it worse than others."
"Does the pain come at random or have a time frame?" What I was curios
"Both. it has an hour time frame but we never know exactly when it happens after that hour."
What? I furrowed my eyebrows.
William sighed. "Your body can't physically have the pain again for another hour, but it might not be an hour when the next pain comes. It could come in two or four hours."
"Oh ok."
"Well I'm going to take a shower." He got up and walked upstairs.
After letting Guardian back in the house I turned on the TV. It was now 8:00 a.m. SpongeBob was on. The show irritated me. How many times could a sponge wreak a stupid boat and other annoying crap. I quickly changed the channel to Animal Planet. It was a documentary about wolves. How convenient. I watched it until it was over at 10:00. After the show turned off I went into the kitchen and fed Guardian some dry dog food. She raced into the kitchen skidding to a stop on the slippery floor. I reached into the fridge to grab me something eat when I heard laughter. I put my soup into the microwave and walked to a window in the living room. I saw a couple. The man had dark brown hair and tan skin and the female had light blonde hair and pale skin. The man had said something and made the girl laugh. She playfully punched him in the arm.
The soup from the microwave began to carry the smell throughout the kitchen and living room. The sweet scent of meat made my mouth water. Before I knew I moved I was walking out of my front door. The couple had made it to the top of the hill now. I followed them silently as my mouth continued to water. I craved meat and blood and began to walk faster. I was now only a few feet away from the man and woman when I heard William call my name. I ignored him, the craving too strong. I was about ready to launch myself on one of the two when something yanked me around. I looked at the culprit only to see William inject something into my neck. There was a small sting after he removed the needle.
"What were you thinking Ashton?" William asked as he put the needle back into his pocket.
Worried and surprised at my thoughts I said, "I wanted to e-eat them. I craved blood I wanted to devour them." I began to panic.
"Shhh, its ok."
"Ok! Are you serious I wanted to hurt innocent people!"
"Quiet, do you want people to hear you? Come on we will talk about this at home." William and I both began back home. Once inside we sat on the couch Guardian in my lap.
"Why did I want to hurt those people? Why did I crave blood?" I began.
"It's part of the werewolf transformation. Don't worry it's normal for a newborn to get those."
Remembering what Ethan had told me a few weeks before when I began my training about craving human blood. "When Ethan mention this to me before he said there was this thing that I could use every couple hours to keep the cravings down."
"There is. Do you remember that needle I poked in your neck?"
I nodded.
"Well the stuff that was in it was called Exmonieouses. It kills the craving of human blood. If you remember after I injected you with the needle you had no more cravings right?
I nodded. "Can I get some to keep on me just in case I have another incident?"
William nodded and handed me four vials. "I know Ethan said to take one every few hours but for now only take it when you need it. Because I don't have many vials." He placed his hand on my knee and said, "Don't worry Ashton I'll help get you through this world now."
I smiled at him. It was heartwarming to know that he actually cared about me. I stood. "Can you put the soup that's in the microwave back into the fridge I'm going to go check on mom." I haven't seen her sense the day we were rescued. I walked upstairs and knocked on my mother's bedroom door.
"Come in." she called through the door.
I walked in and closed the door behind me. I turned to see my mother. Her long blonde hair was thinning, her eyes were glassed over, and she was paler than usual. Someone who didn't even know who she was could tell you she was on her death bed.
"You look... terrible."
My mother smiled at me. "And I feel it too."
"Mom I'm so sorry I wish I could do something."
"It's ok sweetheart."
"Do you remember what happened?"
"No."
I suppose that's a good thing. I took her hand into mine and saw that her IV had blood in it. I didn't have a craving just grossed out. William knocked on the door.
"Ashton can I talk to you please?" he didn't wait for my response before he walked out of the room. I said good bye to my mother and followed him out. He kept his voice low so my mom wouldn't hear us. "I think you should stay in your room that way if you got a surprise craving you can't hurt anyone." I nodded. I understood his concern for me and others. So I walked to my room and he locked the door from the outside. I had the vials of Exmonieouses with me just in case. Later that day he let me see Guardian for a few minutes and brought me dinner.
Near 9:00 p.m. The pack returned from the hunt. Of course like the sweet boy he is Ethan came to check on me. I was reading a book when a knock on the door captured my attention. "Come in!" I called. Ethan popped his head through the door.
"Hey chicky."
I got out of bed and hugged him. "Chicky? Is that even a word?"
He shrugged. "It is in my book. So what's this I hear about you almost attacking a by stander?" We both walked over to the bed and sat down.
I lost my grin and fell back. "I really don't want to talk about it."
"Why not?" he had his arm around me.
"The thought of me hurting and or killing innocent people is terrifying."
"How'd you feel before William gave you the injection."
I looked at him. "I said I didn't want to talk about it, so stop making me talk about it."
He put his hands up. Palms out. "Hey I'm just asking questions you're the one talking about it."
I sat up and punched his arm. I walked to my closest and started to put things away.
"I thought you said you don't like to hurt innocent people."
I laughed. "Innocent? Please, you're anything but."
The next thing I know I was grabbed by the waist and twirled. I landed on the bed Ethan was pinning me down gently but with enough force to keep me there.
"Hey now." I said smiling.
"You're an all-star, get your game on." He quoted a song and I laughed.
"How about your get your game on?"
He laughed now. "I think I might just do that." He smiled and kissed me.
Instantly I melted. It was gentle, but captivating at first. A mixture of sweet root-beer and salty ocean water. Our lips press together time after time, transporting us to another world. Ragged breathing and dancing tongues brought a fiery heat to the cold ocean air. With just the two of us there, the rest of the world disappeared.
Desire ignited the world around us as we became lost in a sea of lust and love. It was a spicy, powerful combination that sent waves of passion crashing over us. The rest of the world is engulfed in our lustful burning flames as our kisses grow more urgent; rushing. We weren't just kissing anymore we were devouring each other. We rolled across the bed. Taking turns encaging each other. Eventually I rolled on to the floor. Ethan soon joined me. "You alright?" he asked gently caressing my cheek.
"I'm fine." I told him. Though my head hurt a tad from the fall I didn't want to stop. "Good." He once again meshed our lips together. The power and fury returning. He raised my shirt up just enough to see my belly button. He kissed me across my stomach and it made me melt. Forget the fire. This was magma. Something suddenly hit me. The cravings were back. "Ethan." I rasped.
"Huh?" he didn't look up.
"You have to stop."
"Why, I'm just getting started."
Normally I would have laughed at that. But the craving was getting worse. "I mean it you have to stop." I pulled my shirt back down and crawled out from beneath him.
He looked worried now. "What's wrong?" I didn't reply. I looked for the vials William had given me. When I found them I picked one up and injected myself. "Oh that's what's wrong." He came up behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist. "Don't worry my dragon, you're part of my world now, and I'm going to help you get through it." Being part of his world fascinated me. "How's your mom?"
"She looks and feels terrible."
"That's too bad. Well as much as I hate to, I have to go. I had convinced my dad to let me come see you for a little while before we went home."
"I wish you could stay." I said holding his hands in mine
"I do too. But I don't think Shadow will like that idea."
Shadow? Oh right my brother. Nick names, speaking of which. He had called me dragon. Why? "Before you go I have one question."
"Which is?"
"You called me dragon a minute ago. Why?"
"Because you have ash in your name and one day I know you'll leave a mark on anybody who tries to slay you."
"Confused on the last part." I told him.
"Meaning when you're trained you'll leave marks on the people you beat. Mentally and physically."
"Oh ok well when do I start training?"
"It's up to Shadow, but I would say around a week." He bent down and kissed my cheek and left. I walked back to my bed and sagged against my pillow. The boy memorized me. He was tall with the blackest of black hair. He was kind, gentle, but serious when he needed to be. He was brave and overwhelming sometimes. I go crazy for the boy. Maybe that's not such a good I thought. When I'm around him I lose control over myself. We've only been dating for twelve days. That's less than two weeks and we kiss almost every time we see each other. We have to slow down or I might do something I will regret. I laid there in my bed drifting off to sleep. Tomorrow I'm sure he'll come over, I'll tell him then. Or maybe I wont
