Lakshmi's P.O.V.

Pushing back tears I pack the different jewelry boxes for Rishi and Malishka, "L-Lakshmi-" Rishi stuttered coming to stand beside me, "Ek baar meri baat to suno." (Listen to me)

Looking up at him angrily I shake my head, "Aap koan hai?" I ask, (Who are you?)  "Aur kyu baat suno? Aap ki hona wali wife waha baar intizaar karehi hain...aap jaiye mein baar aap ke pass ye sab pochwa doongi." (Why should I listen to you? Your soon-to-be wife is waiting outside for you, go I'll have someone sent outside with these sets.)

Ignoring his presence I set the bag down on the counter drawing up the bill, "Lakshmi, mujhe seriously nahi pata tha ka tum yaha kaam karti hoon...matlab tumne yaha job kabse shurooki?" (Lakshmi...I seriously didn't know that you work here, I mean when did you start working here?)

"Tumse matlab?" (Why does it matter to you?) I snapped, "Take the bill and go Rishi." Didn't want to show him that seeing him and Malishka here hurt me, just this morning we argued so much and now here he is, shopping with Malishka.

Rishi sighed, grabbing the bag shoving the bill inside, keeping a strong posture I lifted my gaze to look at him to see him looking at me. "What?"

"Itni nafrat?" (So much hate.)

"Jitni nafrat tumne suba mujhe dikhiye thi na...use toh kuch kaam hi hai Rishi..." (It is less than the amount you shoed me this morning.) I replied, "Jaise tumne mujhse baat ki, jaise tumne mujhe neecha dikhaya...jaise tumne mujhe paisa ki dhonse dikhiye, mujhpe sale ka dhaba laga chaaha..ye nafrat kuch nahi hai." (The way you talked to me, the way you put me down, the way you showed the power of your money...you tried to put a sale sign on me... this hate is nothing compared to that.)

"Lakshmi, boss tumhe bula rehe hain." (Lakshmi, Boss wants you.) Sunita said gently tapping my shoulder, giving Rishi one last look I smile following her, "Woh tumse bohot impressed hain. Pehle din mein tumne itna munafa jo kara unke." (He's really impressed by you, you have achieved so much on your first day.)

Forcing a smile I say, "I was just doing my job Sunita."

She waved dismissing my comment, "Whatever, it is your talent Lakshmi and... ek baat kahoon?" (Can I ask something?)

"Kaho." (Yeah.)

"Tumhari smile," (Your smile.) She said grinning, "Tumhari to smile dekhke insaan kuch bhi kareedleh." (Anyone who sees your smile will buy anything.)

"Tumhe pata hain na tum mujhe kaisa achi lagti ho?" (You know how I like to see you right?) Rishi said grabbing my hand, gently wiping my tears. I nodd, "Toh batao." (So tell me.)

Gently smiling at him I say, "Aisa." (Like this)

"Lakshmi!" Sunita said gently nudging me, "Hurry up, Boss will get mad." Dragging me towards him I feel uneasy... she knocked on his office door,

"Come in!" He said Sunita pulled me inside, Boss turned around in his chair, "Aa Lakshmi, How are you liking our environment so far?"

"Um.." I say warily, "It's good, I mean I don't have much experience but-"

"She made a big sale with Rishi Oberoi!" Sunita cut me off, "Lakshmi did very well settling in and handling everything."

He raised an eyebrow, "Handle a big client on the first day? Good job."

Awkward I nodd, "Thank you, Sir,"

Boss sighed, "A woman of few words."

"Tumari awaaz..." Rishi said over the phone  (Your voice...)

"Kya huwa meri awaaz ko?" I say quickly looking out the window, adjusting the phone. (What happened to my voice?)

"Bohot sweet hai." (It's sweet)

"I am." I confirm, "Is that all?"

"Yes, it is...you are free to go from here, but keep working hard downstairs." He said dismissing us, brushing past Sunita I quickly rush to the front desk wanting to avoid any kind of confrontation from her or anyone else. I just wanted to be left alone, but needed to do this job too otherwise Chachi won't let Shalu, Bani, and I stay with her...then where will we go?

Inhaling sharply I forced a smile on my face before looking around the store for a free wandering customer but everyone at the store was already being helped...Rishi had left too...it was good he left. Why was I feeling sad?

No Lakshmi...uske baara mein sochna nahi hain...jitna dukh usne tumhe diya hai...aaj tak kisine nahi diya. (Don't think about him, the amount of pain he gave you no one ever has done that to you.)

"Lakshmi! Come here." Sunita said, rolling my eyes I walked over to the side desk where new designs were being shown. Furrowing my eyebrows I stand beside her, "He's back."

"Who's back?"

"Rishi, he's asking for you...look."She whispered pointing at him, my eyes followed her finger and he was standing in the middle of the store looking around like a lost little kid.

"He's not looking for me."

"He's looking for you." Sunita confirmed, "While you were zoned out over there two other girls went to help him but he rejected it...Rishi Oberoi is looking for you!"

Clearing my throat I bit my lip straightening out my sari I walk towards him, Rishi looked at me longingly, "Was there something missing on the bill Sir?"

Rishi's eyes searched mine but I kept a straight face, "Mangalsuter..." He replied, "The sets are in here but the mangalsuter isnt here...that's important right?"

"Ye sirf mera mangalsuter nahi hain Rishi, yeh humari rishte ki door hain...yeh tootga toh samajo ke humari rishte tootga."  (This isn't just my mangalsuter Rishi...it ties us together, and if this breaks then our relation breaks.)

Nodding, "For a new bride, it is important. Follow me, Sir,"

Walking away from him I lead him to the front desk where I had accidentally left the mangalsuter case on the counter, clenching my jaw I ask for the bill to double-check, Rishi placed it in my hand purposely brushing his fingers across my palm, my gaze snapped to meet his...quickly pilling away I calm my heart down. Focusing I highlight the mangalsuter amount and hand him the case, "Maafi chaahti hoon. Mera deeyan kahi aur tha...sorry for the inconvenience." (Sorry, I wasn't paying attention...sorry for the inconvenience.)

Rishi tucked the case in the bag before leaning foreward onto the counter as I looked at him warily, "Kaaha tha deeyan?" (What were you thinking about?)

Squinting my eyes, "Ghar ki problems." (Personal Problems)

"Mhm, not very professional Ms. Lakshmi...Gahr ki problems, Ghar pe he chorke aaya karo aur kaam pe deeyan do." (Personal problems should be left at home, so you can focus on your work)

"Meine aap se saala nahi mangi Sir," (I didn't ask for you advice.) I spat out, "Aur aap ne dikhat kyu ki? Ek phone kardete Im sure someone would have dropped it off at your house." (Why did you go through the trouble to come here? You could have called and someone would have dropped it off at your house.)

"Phir tumhe kaisa dekhta?" (Then how will I see you?) Rishi admitted, "Batao?" (Huh?)

"Mujhe dekhna kyu chahata ho? Mein buri hoona?" (Why do you want to see me? Im bad remember?)

"Lakshmi-"

"Meine maan leeya ke mein buri hoon." (I admit that I'm bad.) I interuptted him, "Toh tum mujhe yaha dekhne matt aaya karo...kyu ki mein nahi tumhe dekhna chaahti...jao tum Malishka ke pass aur uske pass he raho...mujhe baakshdo Rishi."  (So don't come here because I don't want to see you. Go to Malishka and still with her...leave me alone Rishi!)

He looked at me hurt...Good.  Rishi stood up straighter, "Lakshmi-"

"Jao Rishi!"(Go Rishi) I snapped, Rishi exhaled deeply giving me one last look he left the building...as the door shut my posture dropped...I didn't want to cry at work...but...the sad truth wasn't going to change that I still loved him....when he never did.
