I didn't think I actually had the guts to fire a weapon, let alone kill someone with it.
My ears were ringing with the blast from the gun as I lowered the deadly device to the floor. I glanced over at the other still breathing figure in the room, besides me.
"Daehyun?" I whispered, taking a hesitant step towards him.
Never before was I ever this scared. What if I had shot the real Daehyun? What if I killed him, along with my only chance to survive? If this was the Matoki, I was screwed.
The still standing Daehyun (who I prayed was my boyfriend) smirked. "Wow, I didn't think you had that in you. Congratulations."
Instantly, I raised the gun again. "Sh-shut up! I'll use this again if I have to!"
My vision was becoming blurred from the heavy amount of tears threatening to flow out. It's nearly impossible to stay calm in these kinds of situations! (Yeah, because everyone has an alien chasing after them and accidently shoots their boyfriend.)
"Whoa there." He put his hands up in an innocent gesture as my fingers tightened around the trigger. "Don't do something you'll regret, Youngjae."
"Yeah, well, how am I supposed to know that you're the real Daehyun?" I growled.
The man rolled his eyes. "I confessed my heart to you, made love to you, and risked my life to save you. Isn't that enough proof?"
I lowered my pistol a little to look into his eyes. God, I wanted to believe him so badly so this all would end, but I didn't let my guard down.
"No...I don't think it is."
He sighed. "Your stubbornness is still as present as ever I see." The brunette paused, as if pondering something. "Alright, fine. You can shoot me after I'm done speaking, if you don't believe me. Fair enough?"
I nodded, desperately wanting an explanation, anything really, to prove that this was my Daehyun.
"In the woods," Daehyun began. "you told me things that you said were never spoken to anyone before, and I vowed to keep them secret. Your father sexually abused you at a young age, and you took the beatings to keep your mother safe. I remember telling you that you were the bravest person I know...and you still are. Hell, you shot someone that could've been your boyfriend!" He laughed softly. "But I trusted your judgement and let you choose on your own who you thought was the bad guy. You're so strong, Jae, and that's part of why I love you. Your strength."
By now, my gun was down, the barrel facing the floor.
He was Daehyun.
The Daehyun whom I have lost and been reunited with so many times.
Fuck my doubts, he was the real deal. I knew in my heart that this would be the last time I would lose him. He was stuck with me forever.
My legs moved before my mind processed what I was doing, and soon enough, I was standing directly in front of my boyfriend, Jung Daehyun.
"Dae..." I breathed out, reaching up to cup his cheeks. "It's you."
His melodious laughed echoed throughout the small room as his hands came to rest on my hips. "Yeah, it's me."
Our lips molded together instantly, and I found my eyes slipping closed.
We only pulled away hearing the sound of what sounded like a hundred guns being cocked behind us.
I turned around slowly, only to find myself face-to-face with my best friend, and boss, Kim Himchan.
His lips quirked into a wicked grin. "Hello, Youngjae. I'd like you to meet my...minions."
Both Daehyun and I looked around him to see hundreds of Matokis with their guns targeted at us.
I swallowed, hearing Daehyun incoherently do the same.
"Beautiful, aren't they? And lethal. Very lethal." Himchan chuckled to himself. "But I'm not here to boast about my inventions. No...I'm here for another reason."
"Then w-what are you here for?" I spluttered out, amazed that my voice was still functioning.
The blonde smiled. "Oh, Youngjae, isn't it obvious? I'm here for you."
