I thought I was lost the minute I stepped inside. To say the place was huge was an understatement.
Fortunately for me, Daehyun held my hand, carefully manuvering us through the ginormous building.
As we rounded a corner, Daehyun suddenly shoved me against the wall.
"What the-" The man clamped a hand over my mouth to keep me quiet.
"Shh!"
I nodded and the hand was removed as Daehyun peeked around the corner to check if it was safe. He quickly ducked his head back when voices were heard, deep in conversation.
"How could you let him escape? You're fucking made for this kind of stuff!" A raspy trucker's voice echoed throughout the hall. "Just be glad that your head isn't on a platter right now!"
"I'm sorry, Mr. Kim. I'm trying my best! Next time, I won't let him slip through my fingertips." A boy said, fear present in his words.
Why was he so afraid? Who are they talking about? Aish, this doesn't make any sense.
"Very well. Make sure that same mistake isn't made again." The more authoritative male snapped.
More words were exchanged, but were inaudiable as the two males walked the opposite way, down another hallway.
I stole a glance at Daehyun's face that was white as a ghost. His breathing slowed, trying to process the words just spoken.
"Dae?" I whispered, poking his side softly. "You okay there?"
Daehyun blinked, giving me a brisk nod. "Yeah...I, uh, I'm fine." He shifted nervously under my gaze.
"You know you can tell me if anything is wr-"
"I said I'm fine!" He snapped and tore down the hallway, with me hurrying to catch up so I wouldn't get lost.
As we rounded another corner, I realized that we were right where we started; the two towering wooden doors that allowed us to enter were standing right in front of us.
"Uh, Daehyun? You do know that this is where we came in, right?" I questioned.
"Yeah, I know." He replied, sighing, and ran a hand through his already messy hair. "Youngjae...I pondered over why I was taking you in here, when I knew that I was putting your life at risk. So I decided that you should be somewhere safe while I deal with this little...problem..."
I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. "I don't really comprehend what you're talking about, and I know that you're gonna explain everything later, but I agreed to this. I'm staying with you!" I stated stubbornly.
Daehyun shook his head and grabbed my hand, using his left hand to open the massive doors and dragged me outside.
"I'm sorry, but I wouldn't be able to go on if I saw you die before my eyes, Jae." The man looked into my eyes with love and gentleness. "Please just bare with me. I promise everything will get better."
I didn't know what else to do but nod, letting Daehyun take me to a small shed behind the castle.
"This is where you'll stay until I get back, okay? Remember what I said: 'Shoot everything that's not me.'" He gently kissed my forehead and gave me one last smile before disappearing outside.
"Yeah, yeah." I grumbled and put the handgun on my lap as I sat down on the floor and leaned against the wall.
I looked around the small shed and sighed. "So...what am I supposed to do in here for God knows how long? Practice shooting the windows?" I grimaced, glancing at the floor, a furry insect crawling a few inches away. "Or spiders?"
Deciding just to sleep it out, I layed my head back to rest against the wooden wall and dozed off, praying that bugs wouldn't climb onto me while I slept.
Because ew.

A bright light shined through the window to the west.
"What the hell?" I mumbled, rubbing the sleep from my eyes. Squinting, I noticed that it was coming from a flashlight.
"Youngjae?" There was a soft tap on the door. "It's Dae, can you let me in?"
I yawned. "Yeah, sure, just let me get up off my ass."
Groggily I stood up, sauntering over to the door and unlocked it. "There ya go." I rolled my eyes and went back over to my spot against the wall.
"Thanks, babe." Daehyun smiled. "Did you miss me while I was gone?" He walked over and sat down next to me, placing his hand on my knee and gently rubbed it.
"Pfft, yeah right." I scoffed. "I'd say it's vice versa, you queer."
Daehyun laughed and pushed my head down so that it was resting on his shoulder. "That's very true."
"Hey, where did you go anyways?" I asked curiously.
I felt Daehyun tense underneath me. "Um...you don't have to worry about that, babe. I took care of it!" He smiled nervously.
"Oh." I bit my lip in frustration. "But what if I want to worry about it?"
Before Daehyun could answer, a figure appeared in the doorway. "Youngjae, didn't I tell you to- What the hell is going on in here?"
My eyes almost popped out of my head. "Daehyun?! But how..I thought...That was you...huh...?"
The blonde crossed his arms. "Yeah, and I thought I said to shoot anything that wasn't me, and yet you go and give that...that thing the welcome wagon?"
I cautiously moved to a corner, farthest away from both of them. "I don't know what hell is going on here. How are there two of you?!"
"Youngjae..." The Daehyun standing in the doorway slowly made his way over to me.
"Stay back!" I shouted, and he froze.
"Listen," He put his hands up. "I know this is hard to comprehend, but before you lost your memory, you knew all about this. About us. That other guy is a clone. I'm the real Daehyun, remember? He's the Matoki! The thing that's trying to kill you!"
I shook my head. "I'm sorry, but I don't recall any of this." My gaze narrowed on the man who was getting up off of the floor and stood up.
"Are you really gonna listen to that liar? Come on, Youngjae. I know you're smart, so use your brain to realize that the real Daehyun is me. He's obviously faking!" He said and put his hands on his hips.
In all honesty, I wanted to scream and punch both of them in the face. This was so fucking confusing!
I lifted the gun up, so it was pointed in between both of them, my fingers ready on the trigger.
"Now I have no clue as to who the real one is. I'm gonna each give you one more chance to-"
"Wait!" The first Daehyun spoke, paling as I whipped the gun to face him.
"Youngjae...please. You have to remember." He swallowed. "You work at a store, Victoria's Secret? I know you hate it, but it pays well, and you use the money to keep you and your umma fed and alive. You...you told me that your father abused you when you were young..." He looked deeply into my eyes with so much love and gentleness. "Jae, I took your virginity. In a forest. And you complained afterwards." Daehyun chuckled lightly and blushed. "Please, remember me...and remember your past, even though it's painful."
Suddenly, my mind felt like it was going to burst. Everything inside of my head just clicked. Memories came flying in as fast as they left.
"D...D-dae...hyun?" I whispered, lowering the barrel of the gun.
A smile spread across his handsome face. "Hey, baby." He opened his arms and took a step towards me.
I blinked as my finger found the trigger once more, and the bullet found its target.
Daehyun crumpled to the floor.
Dead.
