I clutched Daehyun tighter, his shirt wrinkling under my fingertips until I felt something wet.
"D-dae?" I stuttered and looked down, my eyes widening with fear.
My mouth opened and closed like a fish. On the left side of his chest there was a red stain that kept growing and growing. I had realized that not only was he pale from seeing the Matoki escape, but from the amount of blood he was losing.
"Daehyun!" I gasped as the agent's knees collapsed and he fell into my arms. Tears began welling up in my eyes. "Dammit...I thought he missed you, baby..."
The man looked up at me, chuckling and immediately winced from the pain the laughter had caused him. "Well, I guess now you know that he hit me spot on."
I glared at him. "Dae, if you were in pain right now, I would hit you. How can you joke about something like this?" Shaking my head, I lowered us both to the floor. "Baby, I'm going to have to use your shirt to stop the bleeding."
I leaned down to kiss his dry lips before curling my fingers into the hem of his shirt and pulled it over the agent's head. I immediately rolled the partially blood-stained shirt into a ball and pressed it to his chest. "You're gonna be okay my love. I won't let anything happen to you!"
Daehyun smiled weakly up at me. "I know, and I trust you with my whole heart. I'm glad that I get to die in the arms of the man I love." He reached up to cup my cheek and I leaned into his touch. "I love you, Youngjae."
Tears started flowing freely from my eyes. "S-shut up, you i-idiot. You aren't going to d-die on me!"
My heart sunk to my stomach when I saw his eyes flutter closed and his chest stop rising and falling.
"Dae..." I whispered softly. "Dae! Wake up baby. It's okay, I know you're tired. Y-you can sleep for a little bit and then we'll leave. Promise me, Dae."
My head was spinning. I didn't know how much heartbreak I could take. I had to convince myself that he wasn't gone, only sleeping in my lap. "PROMISE ME!" I screamed, shaking his body. "You can't go to sleep until you promise me that you'll wake up!"
The more I cried, the more I came to realize that he wasn't waking up.
My beautiful boy would be as dead as a doornail forever.
