Chapter 4: Stories!

“So why did you choose to become a veterinarian?” Ashi asked.

“Well I did it to hopefully be able to see you sense you might need a veterinarian at your work.” I said truthfully. 

“You have done so many things because of me, why?” He has asked the same question so many times tonight and I want to tell him but I don’t want to lose him.

“Well… Um… If I tell you, can you promise me that you won’t be mad, or disgusted, and that you wont leave me?” I asked hoping for a positive answer.

"I don't know if there is any reason that you could tell me that would make me mad at you nor any reason that would make me feel disgusted and I don't ever want to leave you ever again so yeah I can promise not to be disgusted or mad and I definitely won't be leaving you." Ashi said. This almost brought tears to my eyes but I have cried way too much today. 

I took a deep breath in. "Okay here we go." I took a deep breath out. "I-" I tried to look away from him, but he grabbed my face and made me look at him.

"There is nothing to be afraid of, I promise. Whatever you are about to say I want you to say it to my face. Not to the wall or the floor or even the ceiling but to me. Okay?" Ashi always knew exactly what to say to make me feel more confident.

"Okay. So. How do I say this?" I then looked him straight in the eyes. "I have been in love with you since our last year in middle school. I knew I was in love with you when you fell off of the swing while we were talking and I was constantly worried for you, so you were always on my mind, but even after you got better you were always on my mind. So I went and asked my mom what this could possibly mean and she told me that I was in love with you and then it all started to slowly fall into place in my mind. By the beginning of first year I knew that I wanted to be with you but I was too scared to tell you because I was afraid of losing you, but I have already lost you once I can't do that again. I can't keep anything from you anymore. I can't lie to you and tell you that I am just not interested in anyone. I can't-" I had been rambling but had stopped when Ashi hugged me.

“You stupid idiot. I love you too! You aren’t going to lose me.” He said as he slowly let go of me and looked me directly in the eyes. “You can be rude at times but you are so protective and trustworthy and you always know how to calm me down when I am anxious. You have always been there for me and I don't ever want to leave your side again.” He continued. His eyes have always been so pretty. They are like brown zircon stones that catch the light and shine almost as bright as the sun, and whenever he gets hurt they look like a stone that has been dropped and broken. Right now his eyes are shining as bright as the sun and the highlights that are in his eye look as if they are shaped into hearts. I am so in love with this man it is crazy. I started to lean in and so did he. We both slowly closed our eyes and eventually my lips landed on his. It was soft and light but there was so much love in the kiss. I broke the kiss slowly.

“We should probably go to sleep now. We both have work tomorrow.”

“Yeah we should. Where should I sleep?”

“You can sleep anywhere you would like. Although I did make the bedroom look as close to what our younger selves had dreamed of so…” I took a deep breath. “If you want we can sleep in there.”

“That sounds nice.” He says with a smile we went to sleep cuddling that night.

The next morning I woke up and got dressed. Ashi wasn’t in the room when I woke up. I had assumed that he had already left for work, but when I went downstairs to get breakfast before going to work I saw that Ashi was cooking french toast. He was wearing an apron and he had his hair pulled back into a ponytail. The sun was glistening off of his skin. He looked beautiful.
