Jules sat in her car, her windows were open as she smoked a cigarette, watching as John Shelby arrived with his brothers- not having a clue that he'd be the married man.
The news that it would be him came quick, his body moving frantically to get away from his family. John felt betrayed, more and betrayed in that moment.
He began to shout, catching the attention of the Lee family, "shit." Muttered Jules, slamming her car door as she made her way towards them.
She needed this to work, she needed the families to kiss and make up so her plan would work. Kimber wouldn't find out of her betrayal straight away- but eventually he would. When he did, Jules would be fucked.
"Arthur!" She shouted, watching the confused man turn to look at her, a relieved smile faltering onto his lips. "It's not the time love."
"What the hell is going on?" She asked, brows furrowing in annoyance. "He didn't know love, he's shitting himself." Jules chuckled, walking over to John.
"I told you to stay in the car." She heard, Thomas sighing as she appeared. "John, John fucking look at me." She ordered, grabbing his face between her hand. "Get a grip, we need this to happen."
"She fucking knew?" He shouted, spitting his toothpick to the foor. "Yes I fucking did. I also know that marriage is not as bad as you think, the first day of marriage is always the best John."
His breath soon calmed, she let go of his face to stand away. "I'll be in the car." She muttered to Thomas. "But when it goes to shit I have the same right to be involved as you do."
-
Jules soon left when she heard the 'I do's', deciding it was now time for family, not business. She sat in her home, soft music playing as she made herself a drink.
She felt calm in that moment as her eyes closed for a second in tiredness as she heard a knock from her front door.
The music was quickly turned off, a knife was placed in her hand, behind her back as she opened the door. "Jesus Christ Arthur." She sighed out in relief. "How do you know where I live?"
Arthur rubbed the back of his neck, realising he's have to tell her the truth. "'Our Ada is having her baby." He smiled out. "Ada?" She asked back, somehow even more confused at the topic of conversation changed
"My sister, Ada." He coughed out, watching as she opened the door to let him in. Arthur noticed how Jules scanned the streets with her eyes before closing the door quickly.
"Well she's having her baby so everyone is celebrating." He continued to explain, watching as Jules downed her drink- quickly making herself another and Arthur his first.
"I was wondering if you'd like to come The Garrison, for a drink?" He asked, taking the drink out of her hand. Jules wanted to say yes, she liked Arthur more than she cared to admit. She felt slightly embarrassed for growing affection for him in such a short period of time.
She had only known the family for a few months, but what she'd learnt from them was once in a lifetime. "I wish I could Arthur, I do." She admitted, sitting closely besides him.
"But it was dangerous for me to even be at the wedding this morning. Kimber has men everywhere, the same way you and I do." The Peaky Blinder nodded, his smile faltering as he took a swig of his drink.
"If he finds out the amount of time I've been spending with your family, he'll have my head." She laughed out, it came out as a joke but both knew the extremes Kimber would go to.
It became quiet as Arthur didn't know what to say back, the two then realising how close they were. His eyes flickered to her lips, placing his hand to the side of her head, moving her hair behind her ear.
"You'll be okay love." He whispered back, the stress visibly leaving her eyes at his kind words. Jules knew that she may not be okay by the end, but she also knew she couldn't live for Kimber- or anyone else.
