I opened my eyes slowly to look around and see where I was this time. It appeared to be the phone I was in before. I stood up slowly to look at the now-darkened bright wall which I now knew to be the phone's screen. I walked over and hit it a few times hoping to get that person's attention.
Before I knew it, the screen came to life with the call icon ringing.
"Are you ok?!" The person's worried voice started. "I'm so sorry, I didn't think you would disappear like that! I tried to put you back but you wouldn't appear. Guess you needed time to regenerate inside."
"I'm still here and... alive? I think. Whatever you could call someone like me. I mean, I am breathing but there's no air in here."
"Well at least we know that you won't entirely disappear if you get taken out of a device. I wonder if I could put you on my computer..."
"No! I mean, I don't know how the space would change. Did you add some apps and such earlier? More random boxes appeared behind me. It's now covered by the app wall though."
"It still is fascinating how you see the phone from the inside.""It's really just three zones from what I could see. There's the home screen background with the apps and widget boxes, the app wall with their own boxes, and the keyboard."
"What if I were to change the orientation...?" Suddenly another box slid down from the ceiling. I barely had enough time to react and fall to the ground before it hit me. "Sorry!" I saw a part of the new box light up before the walls extended themselves. Then I felt myself fall to the wall that now became my floor. "How does that look?"
"The same but also entirely different..." I stood up slowly, noting the ceiling barely above my head. "Also be careful with that other screen. The front here is really compact. Maybe next time let me run behind the app wall before using that." There was a sort of odd silence before the room shifted again and I fell on my side on the floor again. "Ow... some warning pl-" another switch, then another, "stop it!", then another. "I'm going to be sick- wait, can I even get sick?"
"Not in my phone!!"
"Then maybe don't change the gravity of this world so much!" I sighed before sitting upright. "I'm sorry for yelling but... I still feel pain."
"I just have one more tilt though, I really do prefer it in portrait..."
"Alright," I groaned, shifting against the wall that'll soon be my floor. "Go ahead." The phone shifted and I felt some phantom bile run up my throat. "I really am getting sick from this. If someone put me in here with malicious intent, that would be a very good torture device. Not that it would break me though."
"I won't do it again! I swear!"
"It's fine if you do, just warn me ahead of time. I could probably pick up on it if it's a video or something. But otherwise, just a quick note."
"Got it. Also... do you feel it if I were to poke you by accident?"
"I don't know. What it seems to be is that your taps don't go farther than the screen. Everything just moves off on it's own. But go ahead if you want to test it. Might as well get all these surprises out of the way first." I waited a few moments before I got launched to the background wall. "Yep... I definitely felt that.... Not the actual touch though, just getting launched. Hey! What are you doing!?" I was being held up by some force above the floor. I tried flapping my wings to get free, but it was useless. I was then being pulled from one side of the wall to the other. "I'm just a play-thing to you, aren't I?" I crossed my arms in annoyment, trying to convey my feelings through to a person I couldn't see behind a wall.
"Maybe maybe," they laughed to which I groaned.
"Can you set me down now?"
"Hmm," I glared into the blank screen. "fine..." they dropped me back onto the ground without warning. "Sorry again!"
"Just stop flinging me everywhere and you wouldn't have to say sorry as much," I complained while standing up for the thousandth time. "I guess it could be worse. You could be doing all this on purpose for sick pleasure. Or maybe to get something out of me, who knows?" Suddenly a loud ringtone started playing in the background, "pick it up or turn it off! It's so loud!"
"Then we won't be able to talk..."
"We can talk after, it's not like I'm going anywhere. Just turn it off!"
They pressed the answer button and I ducked behind the app wall as they did to hopefully catch my breath from everything. Seemed like the audio from the call was also quieter here as well. Guess I just have to hide behind here when loud things are occurring. There has to be a way to get past it when it's on though... but how...?
