"I'm sorry Xavier, but this is what Ryan wants." I heard them say softly.
"No! Don't trust them!" Xavier countered. "If we lose him now, we might never get him back!"
"That's a risk you'll have to take," I added. "Even if I am to lose myself here, I can't lose you Xavier. Both of you."
"Everything I do is for you Ryan, don't make me lose all I have to live for," I heard something I haven't heard in Xavier's voice in ages. Genuine fear and sadness. "Please tell me you will do all you can to get back to me, because you know I will do the same for you."
"I will... Now let me go," I wanted to give him one last hug before losing him for what could be forever, but as I am, there was no way. "Throw me before he can stop them!" I heard wind whistle past in the mic before what sounded like a catch. "Run now, he will try to get me back. But don't kill him or I won't cooperate in the future!"
"We have ways to make you cooperate, Ryan," I heard a new voice speak.
"You've never met someone like me before. Do you really want to take the risk?" I knew I won as I heard loud footfalls before a door closing somewhere. Before the doors closed, I heard Xavier cry out signifying that he was going to attack them. But having made this deal, I knew no matter what, he wouldn't get killed.
~ A Few Years Later ~
"Do I really have to go back in?" I asked Mike Hasshurt, who had become the leading scientist on this project.
"If I can't leave these small rooms, neither can you." He responded grimly. We had become as close as a test subject and scientist can get, and he told me a few things about the outside world while I was trapped here. I think it was more to make himself feel less alone rather than to keep me company. Mike had told me that Xavier had found his family and that he was going to kill them if he was found to be involved with me. It made me both happy and sad that Xavier was still trying to find me. We knew that in making this choice, I would most likely never make it back to him; but he wouldn't give up. That's just the person he was.
After enjoying stretching out my limbs for the last time today, I laid back into the machine to take the chip out of my head again. I had started to get used to disappearing from existence entirely to become code, then get put into a machine to become a codened version of myself. I was no more than an application as I was now, being tossed between devices. I knew that they had once attempted to recreate the "consciousness" that I had, but it proved too difficult, and VERY costly as it picked up on my far recessed negative emotions. They had to repair the entire east wing I heard. I had almost hoped that it was enough of a mess to gain Xavier's attention, but alas, here I was. Soon enough I awoke within his mobile device's screen so he could keep track of where I was. It was the rule of the head scientist so that someone couldn't break in and take me away.
I knew that today was a special day though, with the head scientist coming to take a look at his progress. They also hinted at finally letting me in to why they kept me over the others whom they first released. It was the only thing I was dying to know. Was it because of my heritage? My mental abilities? My appearance and sexuality? It wouldn't be the first time someone had kept me for my appearance alone. They couldn't have known about my family relation to Xavier's mafia, so they couldn't have even picked me out of revenge! I really had no clue, and neither did Mike when I asked him before. It was the only thing we both were in the dark about.
"So, today's the big day huh?" I tried to start a conversation as we were waiting. "Going to figure out why they won't let me leave!"
"I swear if it's your theory about them just wanting a cute twink to mess around with..." Mike sighed having heard that a few times too often.
