Sungjae shared every little thing of his school/current life with Changsub.
He visits him almost every weekend unless he has any major assignments or Changsub has other plans. They also used to talk daily for at least 10 mins after Subbie's office. It was mostly subbie who called Yuk.
Until one day he did not receive any call from Changsub. Yuk thought maybe he was still stuck at the office so he thought better than to disturb him, which actually was true, coz Sub was busy and was still stuck in the office even at 11 PM. Some big project was coming closer to the deadline so the entire office, even the other departments where Eunkwang worked also stayed late.
It has been 2 days already since he talked to his brother. He didn't even get time to text him at least. When they all went for a quick dinner break at 11 PM, Changsub quickly took his long-forgotten mobile out of his pocket and was about to call Yuk, but then he noticed the time, he would already be sleeping by now.
So instead he dropped a message "Sungjae-ya, sorry I am not able to call you these days, I am stuck in office work.... Hope things were good at school today .. goodnight .. will definitely call u tomorrow. Byeee"
After sending the text he took a deep sigh and he kept his mobile aside and proceeded to eat when suddenly his phone beeped with msg tone.
'who could be texting me at this hour...'.
"Hyung.. how can u forget ur dongsaeng like that ☹ ☹ ☹ "
"Yahh—stop making me feel guilty already... I have been so busy these days ... I am not even getting the time to eat properly"
"it's okay Hyuunggg, I was just joking.. ... don't overwork yourself... your old body would not be able to take that much stress .. ㅋㅋㅋ....and I am doing just fine and I had a great day... Goodnight... we will talk tomorrow ... byee"
"Yah-why are you still awake?.. don't you have classes tomorrow?" He decided to ignore his remark... this brat never misses a chance to tease him.
"I have, but I was doing some homework ... and also I was waiting for your call"
"Sungjae ya, you don't have to wait for my call, you know you can call me anytime...right?"
"Hyung I know...but I thought you were busy and I should not disturb you... since it wasn't anything important..."
"biyaan... I should have informed you earlier ... now go sleep, it's very late... you have to get up early"
"See I was right when I told you you are getting old, you are forgetting everything nowadays.. ㅋㅋㅋ BTW Are u still at work? Have you had dinner?"
"Show some respect to this old man will you.. and yes I'm still at work and I'm having dinner now. What did you eat today?"
"Today we were not feeling like eating the hostel food so I and Ilhoon went to nearby tokboukkei store and ate there"
Yes, you guessed this correct, Ilhoon was Sungjae's roommate, and his best friend or his only friend for that matter. He was a year ahead of Sungjae in school. Sungjae was a new kid and was very shy. He had difficulty talking to new kids and adjusting to this new school. But Ilhoon was the one who helped him a lot to make new friends. Ilhoon was friends with many people and he always included Sungjae in all his friend circles, he never left Sungjae alone.
And Sungjae couldn't express how thankful he was for his help. Sungjae used to have a lot of friends when they were at their grandma's but this was a new city and he was all alone, his grandma and his hyung were not there to guide/help him so it was difficult to adjust. So in order to show how grateful he was, Sungjae took Ilhoon every now and then to Changsub's place to stay over the weekend.
Changsub would take them to good places to have fun and buy them yummy food, he sometimes took them to movies and gaming zones and he always gave them some pocket money when he dropped them back at school. Ilhoon also grew a lot closer to Changsub Eunkwang and Hyunsik in just a few months' time.
So back to the phone conversation
"But are you not hungry now, it's already past 11 PM and you would have eaten a lot earlier," Changsub asked because he knew that the hostlers are permitted to stay out only till 7 PM, well because they are still kids/ minors.
"No hyung, I'm not hungry, we just ate half an hour ago anyway"
You see Ilhoon was friends with many people and one of them was their hostel warden, who knew the boy very well, so he allowed them to sneak out just for 20 mins so that they can have little fun and quickly come back before anyone noticed. And the food stall was just around the corner so it was fine.
But Shit .....
He shouldn't have told Changsub that, he realized this only after clicking on send.
Now he was waiting for Changsub's reply.

Then his phone rang and this was a call from Changsub. Now he was in a dilemma to pick it up or not.
