Calum - Broken foot

Calum and Luke rarely argued, but when they did it was usually bad.

So Calum shouldn't have been so surprised when Luke left him in the middle of the hallway, carrying beer barrels. It wasn't even their job, they were supposed to serve coffee, but apparently no one else could carry those barrels except them.

Except Calum, to be more precise, since fucking Luke had already left him alone.

Calum was so upset, that he barely realized his hands sweating, the barrel slipping easily from his grasp.

It landed straight on his right foot, with a loud thud and Calum's vision turned black for a second or two.

He let out a not so manly scream, quickly pressing a hand over his mouth to stop himself from loosing his dignity even more. The barrel had literally crushed his foot, Calum had never relized how heavy it was until that precise moment, when he could feel it all on his foot. It took him a while to pull his foot free and once he did, he was so lightheaded that he had no idea how to make it back to Luke.

He sat on the barrel, not feeling good enough to move yet. He was breathing hard, his heart running fast in his chest.

It was early in the morning, they were supposed to open in half an hour and he and Luke were the only ones there. Part of Calum wondered how Luke didn't hear his scream, the other part was almost relieved that he didn't. He didn't want to tell Luke he had been so clumsy to hurt himself, but then again, if Luke was the only human being around, what other choice did he have?

Unsure of what to do, he just sat there, his foot throbbing in sync with his heartbeat, his hands shaking in his lap.

Ten minutes later, he gathered the strenght to stand up. Putting his foot down almost made him throw up, he tried to step on his heel, barely letting the front of his foot touch the floor, and it was enough to make his eyes fill with tears. Calum leaned with a hand on the wall, struggling his way to the front of the coffee shop.

Luke had already opened, customers were sitting at a couple of tables and the smell of coffee was already strong.

Calum swallowed his pride and limped his way to Luke.

"Where were you?" Luke asked him in a slightly annoyed tone, pushing a tray to Calum's chest. "Here, bring this to table two."

"I don't feel good. Could you serve my tables and I just-"

Luke didn't let him finish. He forced Calum to hold the tray with two mocaccinos and a slice of cake. "Shut up and work."

"Luke, please, I can barely stand, I-" he tried to insist, at this point he didn't care if Luke was an idiot, he barely even remembered why they were arguing in the first place. He nedeed help.

But Luke didn't listen at all. He went behind the counter, getting another coffee ready, before Calum could finish his sentence.

Calum sighed and went to table two, struggling with each step. "Here, two mocaccinos and a slice red velvet," he said, as he set everything on the table.

Then he cradled the empty tray under his arm and walked back to the counter where Luke was. He had to use all of his will to not stop at an empty table and just sit there. Walking so much wasn't a smart idea and he knew it, his foot screaming in protest with each step.

"Luke, hear me out!" He begged once he managed to get there.

Luke turned around, setting more things for Calum to bring at the tables.

"Luke, I am not walking back there again, I can't. Can you listen?" he insisted, leaning with both arms over the counter and trying to keep his foot off the floor. Even that was bothering it now, the shoes he usually wore for work, where now feeling so tight and uncomfortable.
