So, I usually don't write about "real" things, it feels so weird. And I honestly had no idea I'd be able to write about quarantine at some point. Neither I thought I could introduce the girlfriends in a story without it beeing too awkward.
Thanks to 5sosxcalmx for giving me the courage to publish this one.
Hope you'll like it.
Quarantine had started almost a month ago. For the first few days, it had been almost fun. It fels surreal, but at the same time it was peaceful. The boys needed a little time away from each other, focusing on themselves and having their own space.
As the days went by, things started to get harder. They missed each other. Ashton actually moved in with Luke and Sierra at some point, even bringing his lemon tree along, claiming it could have died if Ashton didn't water it regularly. The fact that him and Kaykay had recently broken up had nothing to do with him not wanting to leave alone, or at least that's what he kept telling everyone.
On the other hand, Calum had stubbornly insisted he was fine with Roy and didn't need the others. It was as far away from the truth as possible, but he knew Michael and Crystal would kill him if he moved in with Luke instead of them; he also knew he'd a weight for the couple, so he didn't have any other choice. Besides, Roy was the best mate he could wish for.
To say that Michael was worried, wasn't even close to how Michael really felt and Crystal could easily tell. That's why she introduced Michael to the idea of facetiming the boys and having dinner together. Michael was actually more relaxed after seeing Calum's face for a while.
Calum was, too.
They had a scheduled dinner for the night, but Calum didn't pick up. Michael, Luke and Ashton and everyone else who lived with them, had a great time, talking about random things and eating sushi. No one knew where Calum was though.
.
"You have to get up from the couch at some point," Roy said, offering Calum his hand and pulling him up. "Let's do something, you have been there for hours."
Calum nodded. He had been in a low mood the whole week and he didn't even know why. Maybe the quarantine was starting to affect him. He was homesick, missing his family, he missed the boys and he was afraid everytime he had to leave the house, even just for grocery shopping.
Roy sighed, dragging Calum outside. "Let's see if you can beat me," he said, getting their basket ball and tossing it at Calum.
Calum catched it, holding it under his arm. "I always beat you," he said, with a smirk. Jeez, he was so thankful Roy was there.
At some point he forgot why he was even upset, enjoying the game, and especially enjoying how Roy cursed everytime Calum threw the ball right into the basket.
It was fun, and Calum started putting more effort into it. Too much, maybe.
He jumped, threwing the ball straight into the basket one more time. His smile faded, as he fell with all his weight on is left foot, his body twisting to the side, as he was about to grin in Roy's direction. He gasped as his knee got twisted in the process.
"You fucking beat me again," Roy said, rolling his eyes, not noticing what just happened.
Calum managed to not fall. He quickly shifted all his weight on his right leg and tried to smile at Roy, "Not my fault you have two left hands," he said, then he tried to take a step. It made him gasp from the pain, his knee buckling as he tripped to the floor.
"Cal, what happened?" Roy gasped, he was by his side in a second.
Calum didn't reply, clutching his thigh tightly, squeezing his eyes shut. The pain was blinding and he wasn't even moving.
