"It's been 5 weeks since I met Lyric, and ever since all of that happened with her mom and she spent the whole rest of that night opening up, finally, and telling me her story..we've been even closer, stuck together like glue. I kissed her head over and over again that night, and she laid her head on my shoulder with her arm around my stomach while I played with her hair. I feel like I've made a life long..I want to say friend, but I'm not sure if we're platonic enough to be classified as friends anymore, but whatever it is, it's an absolutely amazing feeling."
Chapter 10, (Wednesday, November 14th, 8:06 pm) Troy and Gabriel were on their way back from mann park, they had spent the last couple of hours with Lyric and Ella, the kids doing their homework together for the first half and playing on the playground for the last half. Gabriel was still hyper and happy so he was in the backseat, kicking his feet back and forth as he danced around to whatever was playing on the radio. Troy was spaced out with his elbow propped up against the window, his head in his hand. "Troy? You just drove past home" Gabriel snapped him out of it gently and Troy looked in the side mirror to see their house in the near distance, slowing down. "Crap..sorry buddy." He uttered and pulled into the next houses driveway, looking both ways before shifting into reverse, "What's wrong?" Gabriel asked softly, Troy shaking his head as he brushed the question off. "Nothing, I'm okay, Gabe. I was just spacing a little." Troy reassured as he reversed out of this persons driveway carefully and shifted back into drive, "Hmm, okay." Gabriel said with a shrug of his shoulders, Troy driving back to their house and pulling into their driveway. He came to a complete stop and put the car in park, unbuckling his seatbelt and grabbing his bag. He stepped out of the car and shut his door behind him, Gabriel doing the same and bringing his backpack with him..they walked up to the house side by side and when they walked up the front steps Troy held the door open for Gabriel, Gabriel bowing as he walked through the doorway. Their mom turned to look at them, chuckling "You guys have fun?" She asked before she finished off the last drink of a beer, tossing it into the trash can across the room which caused her to silently celebrate when she made it in. "So much fun! I love Ella, And Troy looovveess Ms. Lyric" Gabriel teased him, turning to him and making kissy noises at Troy..which made their mom laugh, harder than she should have. "Gabriel if you don't shut up" Troy grumbled his threat, smacking his shoulder with the back of his hand. "Ow!" Gabriel exclaimed grumpily "Hey, Be nice to your brother! He may be a kid but he's not dumb Troy, he can pick up on how people feel about each other, especially if it's painfully obvious" She said as she took the pan full of taco meat off of the stove, turning the burner off that she cooked it on..Gabriel snickering at his success that she agreed with him while Troy gave her the stink eye "You guys are both assholes." Troy grumbled under his breath, hanging his car keys up on the hook beside the door. "What's an asshole?" Gabriel asked innocently as he set his stuff down on the coffee table, Troys eyes widening as he looked at Gabriel and Jill just laughed, really hard. "Well uhm.." Jill began, fighting back a smile as she took the toppings for the tacos out of the fridge, "Something you can't say" Troy said simply as he shrugged his jacket off of his shoulders, Jill pointing her finger at Troy briefly "Yep, that." Jill agreed, and Gabriel hummed for a moment as he thought about it, shrugging his shoulders, "Okay." He said and kneeled beside the coffee table, opening up his backup and pulling his homework out, beginning to work on it again. Troy hung up his jacket on the coat rack, their mom turning to look at him as she set the toppings down on the counter. "You eating?" She asked as she took the plates out, Troy shaking his head. "Not hungry, thank you though" Troy said simply and brushed her off, kicking his shoes off by the rest of the shoes. Jill humming briefly under her breath as she studied him for a moment, letting out a sigh when she failed to read him, "Okay..well there will be plenty left over if you want to reheat some later" She said softly as she set her and gabriel's plate down on the counter, Troy nodding in response as he made his way over to the couch and sat down. "Okay, it's ready..come make your food, Gabe" Jill called him over and Gabriel dropped his pencil to the table and rushed over to the stove, Jill ruffling his hair when he got to her.
