Chapter 19. (8:29 pm, 30 minutes later) The kids were sitting on the couch with a bowl of spaghetti in their laps and a piece of garlic bread in hand, the only sound in the entire house was light chatter coming from the tv to keep the kids entertained, wonder pets. Troy and Lyric were sitting at the kitchen table in awkward silence while she cleaned him up, she gripped his jaw lightly with one hand, making him turn his head to the side while her other hand worked on cleaning his face up with a rubbing alcohol pad. His eyes flickered up from the table to meet hers after about 5 minutes of not looking each other in the eye, her eyes were sharp, focused on what she was doing. "How is your hand? Your head?" Troy asked softly and she drew in a deep breath through her nose, beginning to nod in response but holding off on eye contact, her eyes still on her working fingers. "It's okay" Lyric sighed out, "The ibuprofen helped with my headache." She murmured, "And your hand?" He inquired gently and she shook her head. "Not much change." She replied simply and his eyes scanned her facial expression, it was hard and concentrated. "You should probably clean it and wrap it, or at least get some ice on-" "I'm not worried about my damn hand." Lyric snapped back sharply and he swallowed, the kids taking a glance over at Lyric and Troy through the doorway and then at each other. "You should be, the gash is pretty deep." Troy uttered, still a bit of concern in his voice, but more cautious this time. "I'm more worried about you because you are bleeding and bruised, and your hand is very fucked up, my hand will be fine." Lyric reassured him but her tone was still irritated. He could tell that he had royally pissed her off by fighting him so he bit his tongue and his eyes fell back down to the floor, keeping himself silent while Lyric started to clean a slash on his cheekbone. It was quite deep because it had been caused by Alexanders ring, so as soon as the alcohol hit it it stung even more than it already did, his jaw tightening as he struggled to keep quiet. "Ow, fuck" He winced out quietly through his gritted teeth. She huffed in disbelief that he had done this, running her tongue over her bottom lip. "God you're an idiot." Lyric breathed out and tossed the used alcohol pad aside onto the table, "Only for you" He hardly whispered as she unwrapped a small bandaid, attempting to disregard his quiet statement while she placed the bandaid over the gash, running her thumb along the edges of it to secure it in its place.

She gently took his hand in hers, carefully wiping over the dried blood and bruises on his knuckles with a now fresh alcohol pad. Once she quickly finished cleaning them she softly blew over them, trying to dry the alcohol quicker so she could wrap his hand..Troy just sat there and watched her the entire time, trying to avert eye contact whenever she actually began to look up at him every so often. Lyric grabbed a piece of gauze from the open first aid kid with her free hand and laid it down gently over his knuckles, keeping it in place as she reached over for the bandage tape. She carefully began to wrap it over his knuckles and then down around his palm, working her way around his wrist to completely secure it..she grabbed the pair of scissors she had set down on the table and cut off the end of the tape where she needed it, sticking it down to itself. Lyric rounded up the used alcohol wipes and bandage wrappers and pushed her chair further out, standing and heading off to the trash can across the kitchen. She tossed them into the trash and closed the lid, turning and walking back over to where Troy still sat at the table, she tried to grab a couple things from the first aid kit to put them away but he immediately set his hand over the lid and closed it, her eyes moving up to meet his for the first time in 20 minutes. "No, sit down." Troy ordered gently and she stared down at him in silence for a moment, considering whether or not she wanted to fight him on this, but she didn't have the energy to so just she exhaled heavily and gave in, plopping back down into her seat. He re-opened the first aid kit lid and placed a couple of things back in it that he wouldn't be needing, hesitantly and gently taking her hand in his, turning her hand over so her palm faced up. He re-examined it for a few seconds with care in his eyes and a small tilt of his head to get a better view of it, his eyes returning to the table so he could locate the rubbing alcohol wipes which he grabbed, making her take in a nervous deep breath just at the thought of how much this was going to hurt. His eyes moved up to hers which were glued to his hand that held the rubbing alcohol wipe, dipping his head down a little to make her look at him, which she reluctantly did. "It's okay, okay? I've got you." Troy reassured her under his breath and she drew in another deep breath, exhaling slowly as she began to nod, which he slowly returned. He ripped open the packaging with his teeth and then unfolded the wipe, slowly bringing it down to her palm, her eyes still connected with it as he gently set it over her gash and wiped over it carefully. Her jaw hardened at the stinging sensation the alcohol left while he delicately cleaned it, tracing around the gash to remove the dried blood and the actual wound itself to remove any kind of fresh blood and bacteria in it. "See, not that bad" Troy whispered as his eyes returned to hers briefly which stayed on what he was doing, nodding gently in response. He set the wipe aside after he had cleaned it the best that he could and he grabbed the tube of Neosporin that laid on the table, applying just a bit over her wound before he got a gauze pad, carefully setting it on her palm. Troy lifted her hand a little and grabbed the roll of bandage tape, pulling out a decent amount of it before he began to gently wrap it around her palm, making sure the gauze stayed in place while he did. Once he finished wrapping it he folded it down on top of itself considering it was sticky bandage tape, and she cleared her throat before she spoke, rounding up the items from the first aid. "Thank you" Lyric whispered and he nodded in response, helping her pick up a couple of things and placing them back into the kit. She closed it and picked it up, carrying it across the kitchen to put it back in its original place in the cabinet above the fridge. Troy could tell that she was still upset with him just by the way her hips swayed side to side when she walked, he set his head back momentarily as he let out a sigh, tossing himself up out of his chair after a few seconds and following after her. Lyric set the first aid kit down on the counter and lifted up the lid of the trash can, tossing the singular alcohol pad and wrapper of it away, Troy crossed his arms over his chest and just stood there watching her, carefully. Lyric grabbed the container full of spaghetti off of the counter and opened the fridge door, placing it inside on a shelf where there was space. She closed the fridge door and stood there with her hand still on the handle, she could feel his eyes burning through her and she couldn't take not saying anything anymore, letting her hand fall back to her side and turning to look at him. "Listen, you need to-" They were interrupted by the kids who walked into the kitchen with their bowls, Lyric went silent and pressed her lips into a thin line, turning towards the counter and grabbing the first aid kit. "I'm going to bed mommy" Ella said softly and set her bowl inside the sink. "Okay baby, goodnight" Lyric said as she stood on her tip toes, placing the first aid kit back in the cabinet above the fridge. "Goodnight Miss Lyric, Goodnight Troy." Gabriel said as he set his bowl in the sink with Ella's, before they began to walk towards the living room to go upstairs. "Goodnight buddy, Goodnight Ella" Troy called, wiping the blood away from his bottom lip with his tongue, "Goodnight" Lyric said gently as she shut the cabinet door, Ella following Gabriel up the stairs and closing the bedroom door behind them.
