In two thousand and nineteen, the government in my country launched the best driver award. Any driver or key personnel in the transportation department has the golden chance. Over the years, the awards have been given to people at higher ranking positions. No one is to vote. There is an organisation responsible for handling out the award to the deserving member. In article nineteen page three of my beloved country states equality in sharing of public award. Cheating and other bad commodities will not be tolerated. All these things are beautifully listed in the book of law but sometimes i wonder whether all these are actually in action because the organisation doesn't play fair. Before the selection, rumor has it that a meeting is held in the transportation department, where the member with the biggest income of year gets to take the award. In clear words the award is bought. The organisation shamelessly collects a huge sum of money from the chosen and announces the name during the grand celebration.
This act is known by all but nobody dares to say a dime due to what happened to one member from the department, Mrs Kaine Lobby. It was told that since she was against that “business”. She planned to crash it to trash but ended up losing her life and the truth never really came out. You're probably wondering that if the truth isn't out then, how could I afford to know. The TRUTH is out but there is no proof to back it. Without an evidence the court won't buy into it. Even after the death of Mrs Lobby the Judge still wasn't convinced enough. The occasion to choose the best man or woman in the country is near. The energy is loosening day by day. But why should we be excited because the choosing is going to be the same. The award is going to the richest. "O Lord, grant Mr. Jones the face to win for our community. It has been years since our community got her honor back". My sister mothered out when she saw the man on the television. "Keep what you think to yourself as if it isn't that obvious". "You're right but you don't know the future ". She replied. I agreed right away. Nobody knows tomorrow. We watched television and ate dinner later. Dinner wasn't great as any other because my mom is 36years now. Chicken wings and thighs, brown rice my favorite and all you can wish for a birthday dinner.
Some of our neighbors were invited. The lights were off as my mother entered the living room and were turned on again to surprise her. We sang a birthday song. It was just wonderful. Seeing my mother happy just made my night. She received many gifts from family and friends. Mine was the special though. I think. As time went by many went to their various houses. Not soon after the house was empty. The next morning, I woke up early just not to miss my monthly examination. These exams determine whether I will go to grade 11 or not. I have been preparing for this examination for a very long time. We will be writing five different subjects. Each in a day. My entire grade 11 dependents only on Mathematik und German. Yeah, German. My family is planning on moving there so we need to learn the language of the local people. Oh, I forgot to tell you guys. Today is the occasion and after the examination, we will all head to the event's location. Different people with different opinions. But no one knows who will be chosen this year. There were twenty-five districts' Leaders who were nominated and I think my sister's wish may be granted. Maybe only maybe because our district was the first to be nominated.(After the examination)The exams was cool. I had prepared for ages and finally I'm good. Half of the school wasn't bothered by the exams. Their interest was only in the question "Who will be chosen this year?". Even the teachers too. The invigilating team in my school is really strict when it's examination time but this time around I think the upcoming event affected them too. The invigilator today was only on his phone and so. We students took it also as an advantage and all are hoping to take the lion's share. "Attention everyone! Students from grade 8 to grade 10 should be at the assembly hall in less than twenty minutes. We would like to take off. Remember anyone left behind can't come alone. Thank you". The school principal announced. “Yes! The time has come”. Julia said as we packed our things to our lockers and headed for the hall "What are you hoping to see, girl? Isn't it obvious who the award would be given to". I said to her. Julia looked at me and starred like I have ten heads. But before she could say anything else, her boyfriend, Kelvin came and intensionally took her way and I was left with Mike, my childhood friend.
The assembly hall was chaotic and full of students and teachers. All were talking. Talking about the choosing I guess. Stillness broke into the hall when the principal stepped onto the stage. "You all are expected to be disciplined at the event. Please behave yourselves". The principal pleaded with the sweetest puppy eyes i have ever seen. He wasn't like that though. Hm well sometimes we can say the tiger can have some sweet and weak sides. "Wow i never expected the occasion to be so crowded like this!". Mike whispered to me when the school bus pulled to a stop. I tried my best not to burst out laughing. Indeed the occasion is popular and basically worshipped.
Many authorities were going to be at the occasion. The minster of transportation, minster of land and many more. Even i heard a day before that the president of the land would be there. After few minutes my school arrived the occasion immediately held. And it is true. The President is at the occasion. It's unfortunate that the sound from the police cars are too loud. The Organisation really has their plans in order. Different speeches and acknowledgments were made and given by many Ministers but the best was made by the president: "When you are the only man to save the world. Don't waste time in doing your best. Even if takes your life don't resist saving your country". My and other peoples' tears could be compare to a bucket full of water after his speech.
"I would stand in the name of the whole organisation and the transportation department and thank you all for your presence. Your presence means a lot to us. At this graceful moment we would like to present this year's award to the long awaited appropriate person". A man in a nice coat said when he came to the stage.
"The appropriate person" i laughed when he said that. Since when do they give the award to the appropriate person? If not all that they know is bribery and corruption then what else? He continued "So without wasting much time, i will call out our nominees. Mr. Lampard Jones, Mr. Lawrence Smiths, Mr Rogers........". The mentioning of the names of the nominees took almost an hour. But as everything in the world, what ever starts has certainly an end. He managed to mention all those twenty nominees and kept the top four. The nominees were supposed to be five but those no stage are four in number. Where is the fifth person?I sat down processing this and it wasn't only me. Many of the crowds were whispering something to themselves, guessing who the fifth person is. "And this year's award goes to Mrs Kaine Lobby!". The announcer shouted. I clapped then I stopped. What did he say? Mrs Kaine? She is already death. Out of know where the place was surround by the police and some FBI authorities. They claim that they have been digging into the death of Mrs Kaine and came to find out that she wasn't actually death but kidnapped...........
What? Mrs Kaine wasn't dead? Would you like to know what happens at the end of my story. Please scroll up and read the Final product off-the-peg story „Public bus". Thank you.
