Kenzie

When I woke up I looked around to see that we had fallen asleep on the couch again, I didn't really mind though. I got up and walked into the kitchen and Jakes mom was in there, just like the day before, making breakfast.

"I think I'm gonna take all you guys to the pool today, and then we'll walk around town, how does that sound?" She asked while she was mixing up some pancake batter.

"That sounds awesome!" I said as I started eating some fruit she had cut up in a bowl. One thing I liked about staying with Jake was his mom always made sure that we at breakfast together. I never got to do that at home, I'm not bitter though, I know my dad would if he didn't work all the time.

"And don't worry I washed your swimsuit last night so it will be all clean for today." She smiled at me.

"Thank you!" I said back, I got up and gave her a quick hug.

"We'll breakfast is going to be ready soon, do you wanna go wake up the boys?" She asked.

"Sure!" I said happily as I ran towards where they were all sleeping.

They all looked so peaceful, with Jake leaning on joshes side and Sammy sprawled out a couple feet away. He must've been leaning on me before I got up. I decided to wake up Sammy first, by gently brushing his hair with my fingers.

"Sammy," I whispered, "it's time to wake up, your mom is making pancakes." He started to stir.

"Where am I?" He asked as he looked around, a little confused."

"We fell asleep on the couch after the movie last night." I explained to him.

"Oh, okay." He said while waking up a bit more.

"I'm going to go to the bathroom and then I'll come right back down." He said as he got off the couch.

"Okay, don't be too long." I told him.

"I won't, don't worry." He said as he was walking up the stairs.

Before I could even wake up Jake or Josh I looked over and saw that they were both awake. I explained that breakfast was almost ready and then I headed back to the kitchen.

Once breakfast was done and we were all ready we got into Jakes moms car and started off. The car ride was thirty minutes but it didn't seem to bad. We played eye spy and other games to occupy our time.

We got to the pool and we were so ready to jump into the pool. Right before we about jumped in Jakes mom told us she had to put sunscreen on us and then we had to wait at least ten minutes before jumping in the pool.

While waiting we got everything set up for when we wanted to come and rest or get a snack. We decided to do the slides before jumping in so that we didn't have to get out later to do slides. Luckily there was two slides so we got to race! I raced Jake and Josh and Sam raced.

Once down we went to the big kid pool and we played games like Marco Polo and breath holding games.

After two hours we got out to get a snack and reapply sunscreen. We did sunscreen first and then Jakes mom and dad went to get us popsicles of the concession stand. We ate and then laid in the sun for a while before we decided to have a diving competition off the diving boards.

After being judged by Jakes dad it was decided that I won. I was so excited and definitely rubbed it in all of their faces.

After playing for another hour we were all very tired and headed to the locker rooms to shower. We would typically shower at home, but we weren't going home quite yet. We stopped for lunch and then we were gonna shop around main street for a bit before going home for the night.

We stopped at a sandwich place for lunch and it was so good! The tables they had were pretty small so Jake, Josh, Sammy, and I all got to sit at a table and their parents sat at one next to us. Even though we were next to them we still felt very grown having our own table.

After we were done eating I didn't want to move.

"I'm so full." I complained, "I don't think my stomach can carry any more food for the rest of the day." I said as I slowly got out of my chair.

"Me too" Sammy whined.

I looked over at Sammy and gave him a smile. We walked out of the restaurant and sat on a bench while his mom and dad payed for the food.

"Where did Jake and Josh go?" I asked as I looked around. I realized that they hadn't been following us outside but they weren't in with their parents either.

"I don't know." Sammy simply replied while also looking around.

Out of nowhere I heard some scream "boo!" On each side of Sammy and me.

We were so startled that we scooted together and Sammy put his arm around my waist and hid his face in my chest. I of course understanding that Sammy was scared wrapped my arms around him and held him close.

As I looked at who had scared us I was met with Jake and Josh laughing right in front of us. As soon as Sammy had realized that there was no real danger he released himself from my hold and he started to get mad at the boys.

"That's wasn't funny!" Sam screamed at them.

"It was so funny!" Josh laughed back. "You we're holding on to Kenzie so hard you little baby!" Josh said in a joking manner. But it didn't seem like joking to Sammy. I looked over at him and saw that his cheeks were getting red and right as Josh was about to add more to the fire he ran off.

"Really guys?" I asked visibly upset, "he is your little brother."before they could say anything I ran in the direction of Sammy, hoping I could catch up to him.

When I found him he was sitting on the ground leaning on one of the buildings, crying. I went and sat down next to him and just put my arms around him and he leaned into me.

"The-they are always embarrassing me like that." He slowly said as he started to cry.

"Shhhhh it's okay Sammy," I hushed. "Don't worry, they scared me too." I said looking down at him.

Before he could reply we heard a set of footsteps running towards us. I looked over and saw Jake.

"Sammy I'm real sorry." He said, with worry in his voice. "I never meant to scare you that bad." Jake slid down the building and now was sitting next to Sammy.

"It's okay." Sammy said trying to put a smile on his face.

Jake gave Sammy a hug and I joined of course. Seconds later we felt another set of arms around us and heard Josh whisper "I'm so sorry Sammy."

It was no secret in the family that the Kiszkas were a tender bunch. But Sammy being the youngest always seemed to be a bit more tender than the rest.

After a group hug and Sammy making up with Jake and Josh we all headed back to the restaurant where their parents were waiting.

I think they could see that something had happened and they didn't say anything about us momentarily being missing.

After that we all continued on walking around Main Street and doing some shopping. We went to a record store and I got a record for John Denver, he's my dads favorite so I know he'll love it. Jake got a Stephen Stills record and he got it specifically because the song "love the one you're with" is on it. Apparently it's his favorite song, and it's really good so I don't blame him!

After shopping around some more we all loaded back into the car and drove back to the house. Because we had had such a long day we were all super tired and we all headed to bed, even though it was only 7:30!
