The Sprain

After that day things went back to normal. I showed up to school and sat in between Jake and Josh just like I always do. I patted them both on the head and they both pulled on one of my pigtails, but in a loving way.

During recess we went and played hide and seek in the woods at the school and I tripped on a tree root and twisted my ankle real bad. I sat and cried until Jake and Josh realized I wasn't joking around and they took me to the nurse to get a bandage.

When I got there the nurse told me that I had a pretty bad sprain and if I wasn't careful it could get worse. She wrapped up my ankle really good and she also gave me some yucky medicine that was supposed to taste like cherry but it really tasted gross, and told me that I couldn't go to recess for a week! I told her that was nonsense but she told me if I didn't want her to call my dad to take me home for the day I would listen, so I did.

When it was time for the second recess of the day Jake sat right next to me and told me that he would stay with me and we could play games while everyone else went out. I was so happy that he stayed with me.  When I looked over at Josh to see if he was gonna stay, he booked it to the door. I didn't mind though, at least I had Jake.

We spent recess playing eye spy and Simon says and after a couple minutes our teacher brought us some markers and coloring books. She brought me a puppy one and Jake a dinosaur one, we decided to trade. He picked out a coloring page with a cute little puppy on it, I'm pretty sure it was a golden retriever but I'm not really sure. I picked out a a page that had a really tall dinosaur with a really long neck. I'm not sure what it's called but I decided that I would ask my dad when he picked me up from Jake's house.  

Once recess was over everybody came in and we showed Josh our coloring pages, he really liked them. Josh told us about a kid he met from the other kindergarten class, his name was Kyle. He said it was super fun playing with him. I was sad that I didn't get to meet Kyle but then I remembered that me and Jake got to color and I wasn't as sad anymore.

After school we all got in the car and Jake helped me climb in because my ankle hurt too bad to do it on my own.  Jake and Joshes mom felt bad about my ankle so she took us to get ice cream before we went back to their house!

Once we got back my ankle was hurting more than it had been before so I sat in their couch to rest it while Jake and Josh cleaned their rooms. While I was sitting their Sammy climbed on the couch and gave me a hug.  He pointed at my foot and said "Kenzie hurt" I said yes and he gave me another big hug. He sat next to me on the couch until it was time for his nap, and after that I worked on reading my site words for school.

Once Jake and Josh were done with their chores I thought they might wanna play game with me but josh told me that his new friend Kyle was coming over and he wanted to meet Jake so I was stuck on the couch still. I stayed their for a moment but then I realized Sammy had woken up so I went and played with him until it was time for dinner.

At dinner I sat next to Jake and he whispered so that Josh or Kyle wouldn't here, saying, "Kyle isn't as cool as Josh said. He only talked to Josh and when he talked to me it was to tell me all about his other cool friends." He looked kind of sad as he talked, I felt bad.

After dinner Kyle left and we all sat in the family room and talked about our day. Jake sat next to me and Josh went upstairs. While I was explaining about how I sprained my ankle Sammy walked up to me and crawled on the couch and he laid his head on my shoulder.

Once my dad came to pick me up Jake helped me walk to the car and lift me into it. I thanked him and he gave me a quick hug.

Luckily it was the weekend so when we got home dad told me I could sleep as long as I wanted but first he had to give me more gross medicine and change my bandage.
