Kenzie
The rest of the school year went by quick and before we knew it, it was the summer before my junior year.

Sammy and Danny were off the wall excited to finally be going to the same school and me, Jake, and Josh again.

This summer instead of just Jake going to his guitar camp all the boys went to a band camp where they learned how to be a better band together.

Although it was hard for a week to not have any friends around, it was really nice to be able to spend a little bit of time with mama k.

She taught me things that moms usually teach their daughters.

We spent the week cooking old family recipes that had been passed down generations. She also helped me figure out a bank account, because I was finally getting a job!

So when the boys came back and I was off working they were a bit confused about where I was but as soon as they found out they came down to the little shop to say hello.

I ended up getting a job at a local record shop. I figured Jake would be proud and Sammy would be excited that I would bring home more records that we could listen to late at night.

As soon as the boys walked through the door I was bombarded with a group hug and a bunch of "we missed yous" and "when did you get a job?"

After being distracted from work for a half an hour I eventually kicked them out of the store with the promise of bringing home a new record and telling Sammy separately that I would bring a record home just for us.

I ended up getting a Fleet Foxes record for everyone and a Hozier one for me and Sammy.

When I brought it home I was nearly tackled by Josh who then praised me for bringing home a record from one of his favorite artists.

While he fanboyed about that I snuck up to my room to hid the Hozier one so that no one would see it. Nobody knew about me and Sammy's little dancing/listening sessions and I wanted to keep it that way. I'm sure Sammy felt the same.

While I was unwrapping the record and putting it on the player so that it would be ready I heard a knock on the frame of my door. I turned around to see Sammy leaning against the frame and I motioned for him to come in.

"I really missed you while we were gone." He said bluntly.

"I missed you too Sammy." I said as I ruffled his hair and giggled.

He looked over at the record player in the corner of my room and saw the new record on it.

"Got anything good for us kenz?" He asked curiously.

"I hope so. It's an artist I haven't heard before so we'll have to see." I said smiling at him. I knew that he loved hearing new music with me.

"Let's put it on then." He said excitedly.

"Not yet." I said holding him back from putting on the record.

He gave me a questioning look.

"We have to wait until it's later when everyone's asleep, like we always do." I said looking him in the eyes.

"Whatever you say kenz." He said smiling back.

Whether it was romantic or not I really loved this boy sitting in front of me.

We sat for a little while longer while Sammy told me about the band camp. He told me he wrote a couple of songs that he couldn't wait for me to hear. But not until music was added to the lyrics.

In exchange I told him about all the time I got to spend with his mom. He was very engaged in what I had to say and just that alone made me happy.

After a while we were called down for dinner. As we got down to the table Jake gave me a look as if to ask "what were you doing up there?" And I gave him a look back that said "don't worry about it."

Him and Josh may have twin telepathy but Jake and I also have our own form of telepathy. It must come with being best friends for so long.

"So, Kenzie now that you work at the record shop I'm assuming we're to expect a new record every so often?" Papa K broke the silence after a few moments of eating.

"Yeah probably" I smiled up at him. "Let me know if you have any in particular you want, I have first pick of any new records that come in."

After saying that the boys faces lit up. They started naming off every record they could think of.

"Just write them all down, I'm sure we'll get through the list eventually." I said as a slightly giggled.

After dinner we did something we hadn't done in a long time.  We all squished together on the couch to watch a movie before bed. With me in the middle squished between Jake and Sammy, and Josh and Danny on the edges.

We ended up watching two of the pirates of the Caribbean movies before we all fell asleep on the couch.

Around two in the morning I felt someone softly brushing the hair off my forehead. I looked up to see Sammy giving me a gentle smile.

"Sorry to wake you up." He said apologetically.

"It's alright," I slurred. "What's going on? Are you okay?" I asked very worried.

"Everything's fine. I was just wondering if maybe you'd want to listen to that new record you got for us today?" He looked hopeful. How could I say no to that?

"Yes Sammy, we can go listen to it." I said smiling up at him.

We made it up to my room and after Sammy softly shut my door behind him I put the record on.

As the opening tune of "Like Real People Do" started to play Sammy and I laid side by side on my bed.

Before I knew it, it was morning time and Sammy and I were still laying on top of the covers in the same position in the bed.

Not a bad way to wake up.
