bear hugs

This was inspired by a tumbler post by @inahallucination

It was 11 pm the time that the poets usually snuck out and Todd was ready, flashlight in hand. Except one or more like seven things were missing, the poets. Nevertheless he put his coat on. Walking to the door something caught Todd's eye, the poetry book, Neil's poetry book. It was left here by accident he was sure, but it felt like a sign.

Like Neil was passing on the legacy of the dead poets society to him. Tears forming in his eyes he grabed the book that Neil read to bring in the meeting only 3 short weeks ago.

Todd made his way to the cave even the thought of going made him sick. The last time he had been here was the night that he found out. He probably would have backed out and gone back to his lonely dorm by now if it wasn't for one thing.

Finally he made it to the cave where only 3 weeks ago there was laughter. There was poetry. There was Neil.

"Charlie!"

"Todd!"

Without hesitation Charlie got up from his usual spot in the cave to scoop Todd up into a hug. It was big bear hug the biggest they both could give. This was Todd's first hug since the poets told him the news and he knew it was Charlie's as well. They poured all their feelings into the hug just thankful to have a sense of home again. That safety hadn't been felt since Neil had died and surely since Charlie got expelled. Nevertheless they hugged like they hadn't seen eachother in years.

"Charlie, he's really gone. He was just here, here" Todd cried showing Charlie the book and then pointing to the ground where Neil sat and recited poetry not to long ago.

"I know, I know" Charlie now crying to pulled him in for another hug not quite ready to let go.
