I couldn't believe it. He was here. On the same bus as me. Beside me. With me.

I could see that he immediately recognized me, but he didn't say anything.

He looked the same, but also somewhat different. It looked like he had a few new neck tattoos, but his hair was the same black colour.

As pretty as ever.

I wonder what he was thinking when he looked at me. If he cared about my acne or if he could see my bruised nose underneath the foundation I quickly covered it with this morning.

There was so much I wanted to say to him, but couldn't, for so many reasons.

His eyes showed shock, but also a hint of excitement, and my heart fluttered.

Even though he was the one guy I felt attracted to, even now as he sits beside me, unarmed, I feel a fear in me, that's not going away.

He didn't say anything for a few seconds, then anger clouded his vision, and he got up, walking to sit with someone else near the front.

I let out a sigh of relief now that the close proximity is gone, but I feel disappointed too. I haven't seen him in 9 months.

Can you miss someone you've only met once?

"Okkkkk Haydie, favourite drink?" I ask, taking a sip of my punch.

"Don't call me Hadie."

I cross my arms, waiting for his answer.

"Kool aid." He shrugs, and I laugh. I can't picture him drinking it.

He glares at me, and I stop. "Aren't you going to ask what my favourite drink is?"

"No."

I pout, looking down, sniffling. I take a sip of my punch.

"Have some water. All you've had is a punch, and it's got alcohol in it." He suggested grabbing my drink from his hands.

I wasn't planning on drinking tonight, but too late now. I wanted to try some punch, even though it had alcohol in it, but I couldn't stop drinking it.

"Are you worried about Lil ol me?" I ask, not able to keep the smile off my face.

"Do you want some water?" He asks, and I tsk because he didn't answer my question.

I gasp. "I just thought of the most genius ideas ever." I put my hands on his arms, dropping my drink on te ground. "Oops. What if we left to go get kool aid and peace tea?"

"I take it peace tea is your favourite drink?"

"Yes, so let's go!"

He looks at me for a second. "Are you sure?"

I wave a hand. "Yeah, don't worry."

"Hey guys," Fay says, approaching us. She looks at our attached hands. "How's it going?"

"We were about to go out. Want to come with us?" I asked, swinging my arms with Hadie's.

Road trip with best friend and pretty boy? Check yes. Double check yes.

She shakes her head. "You guys go and have fun. Not too much fun." She winks, and I widen my eyes.

"Fay." I drag her name out, but we laugh, and when I look at Hayden to see what he has to say, he's already looking at me.

"Take good care of her." She tells Haydie.

He rolls his eyes.

"Pleaseee." I beg when Fay walks away, towards our other friends we came here with.
