The cave was dark and Uka couldn't see anything though from the sound of it, it went in a straight tube.
He walked for some time, feeling very unerved and scared, but he was doing it for Lilian. Water dripped through the roof of the tunnel which was strange, as the savanah hardly rained. This unsettled Uka even more. It was such a reliefe to see his friend."There you are! We have been looking everywh-"
Something pounced onto Uka, tumbling him to the ground. The thing had dark blue eyes that looked possesed and resembled the shape of a wolf.
Lilian let out a muffled yell as she watched the fight go on. The wolf-like creature lifted its paw and scratched the side of his face, making him groan in pain.Uka struggled to pull out his spear from the sheathe but the huge beast had him pinned down. It flipped him over and pushed his face into the soggy mud. His airways were blocked by the mud and Uka felt black sparkles dance around his eyes. The beast was too strong to push off but by some miracle, though he didn't feel concious while doing it, he pierced the spear through the wolf's chest.
Lying on his back and gasping for breath, Uka coughed up some mud in his mouth. He gave a relieved chuckle, knowing that he didn't die in these dark tunnels. He pilled his spear out of the wolf-creature, who's eyes turned from the glowing dark blue to a normall brown.
Lilian's voice brought him back to reality. He turned towards her, who was tied up in a cocoon, unable to move, her mouth and body wrapped in some strange ropey cloth. Uka quickly cut through it with his dagger and lifted the girl up.
"Oh thank goodness Uka! I was so scared and i was so worried the wolf thing was going to kill you!" Shd babbled in a tired mess, "i'm so hungry and thirsty Uka, please take me home."Lilian squinted hard as they entered the sunlight. Though it was sunset and it was fairly dark, being in the pitch black tunnels for hours would have made her adapt to the dark and the contrasting light would hurt her eyes.
Seed was stood waiting as Uka emerged from the cave, carrying Lilian. She was tired from hunger and had to lay on his lap as not to fall of the horse. Uka followed the footsteps back home, ignoring the pain on his face.
Margret was sitting in a devestated heap in the kitchen, with two other women tending to her.
She looked up with tired, crying eyes as she heared them entering the house and gave a happy yelp as she embraced her daughter."She is hungry and thirsty, get her something," Uka ordered before stumbling to his room and onto his sleeping mat.
Uka blinked his eyes open. Lilian was sitting on the ground beside him, with a bowl of water, a towel and some bandages. He also felt some of his face plastered up.
"Oops, i didn't mean to wake you up." Lilian whispered, "mother told me to go to sleep but no one noticed your injuries and i couldn't let them get infected could I?"
"You should rest, Lilian, you were not in a good state when i found you." Uka said.
His friend retaliated instantly, "And you were in a worse state! Now sit still and let me patch you up!" She said.Honestly, Uka felt grateful for Lilian's care. He dosed off to her gentle hum and her soft touch as she bandaged his wounds.
